Let's guess the fleet numbers

7400-7523 LFSe+

7600-7775 XE40 (stupidly assuming)

I wonder if they would get some XE60s for testing. Then we can have some 9500s!

Let's just wait and see when they arrive. Besides there's the 2000 series that hasn't been used in a very long time.

124 Novabus LFSe+ & 176 New Flyer XE40 is what I’m assuming is the breakdown of the 300 electric bus order

It's actually 340 electric buses so the breakdown would be 216 electric flyers and 124 electric novas

While the procurement was for 340 buses, only 300 buses are currently awarded due to funding, with the additional 40 buses being purchased subject to funding availability and confirmation. If it follows approximately 60/40 split as it appears, with 340 buses ordered it would end up being 204 NFI and 136 Novas.

Hence the wording in the Nova news release "base order of 124 LFSe+, with a potential additional order of 12 buses"

Toronto Transit Commission awards NFI contract for up to 621 New Flyer battery-electric heavy-duty transit buses

Always good to see Newflyer win an award with TTC. Even though I don't have faith in the electric buses.

my understanding is, these buses won't be out in 18 hour days because the charge won't last that long, or even longer like the diesels. But that's a whole other discussion.

Charge can Typically last 300-350km a day on the Xcelsior. Here in Ottawa we were getting buses out for 11 hour shifts and coming in with around 16% from the max set at 91%

With Toronto's far more congested and smaller city geographically compared to Ottawa, the XE40 should do fairly well with ample regen opportunities

I still feel like the TTC is rushing this zero emission initiative even though the federal government is providing them with the funding to purchase these buses. I feel like they should still be ordering hybrids along with some electrics, but not all, at least not yet. But  we'll see how this plays out.

You guys need to remember that countless studies, tests, contacts with other transit systems, and countless people share their opinion before making a huge order like this. Proper conclusions and discussions are done before a massive order like this happens. I highly doubt TTC just order a ton of electric buses with no proper plan

I remember the Orion hybrid debacle.

I'll believe it when I see it.

Orion 3

CNG fleet.

Ex Montreal buses. Only rebuilt 20

Hopefully it works out, but I doubt it. I'll enjoy the flyers in the mean time.

I'm curious what they'll replace the artics with. They're not know to last as long as 40ft buses.  I doubt they'll go for 60ft electric buses. But I wouldn't put it past them.

I believe flyer had the option where you could covert a hybrid bus to a electric bus. It was brought up somewhere. I wonder if it doesn't last long as electric, they'll do the opposite, and convert them to hybrid to last longer. Probably not likely, but it will be interesting to find out.

But there‘s not yet a reliable brand for electric artics in Canadian market?

Maybe they should look at the Europe market as there is a fair number of more supplier there than NA. Rode a number of different models in various cities last year that had + and - last year. Most last about 12 years. All do recharging at the end of the route or at main terminals by overhead. Most are done in 5-10 minutes with some not been charge at all.

You have 2 main suppliers of artic with Van Hool been a 3rd one in NA. YRT is/was the only one using Van Hool in Ontario. Van Hool does supply some systems in the US.
