T3G
I wouldn't go writing them off yet. We'll see what happens in the coming weeks and months as the winter wears on. Though the idea of there not being any ALRVs at all in service is a surreal one.

Perhaps they'll pull a MiWay, and bring a few back, like they did with the EZs heh.

If BBD's Flexity cars were all delivered according to the plan originally set out close to 9 years ago (prototype in 2011, first production cars in 2012, delivery complete by 2018 https://www.ttc.ca/News/2009/April/TTC_staff_recommend_Bombardier_for_new_streetcar_order.jsp), we could be seeing the TTC save the $33M it has been using to refurbish the legacy fleet. ttc rider
The following cars: CLRV's 4028, 4113, 4114, 4141 ALRV's 4212, 4213, 4220 are not shown as retired in the summary on the first page, but they have not been in service for a while (more than a year for some, such as 4220), and they are tracking at Leslie barns. Are they done or is there any plan to re-activate them?

The first 3 decommissions of 2018. 4212 is out of service due to the victim of a yard collision involving 4239 rear ending said car. 4213 is 'supposedly' in queue for refurbishment, but word is pending on its status. 4220 has major roof leak with a considerably sized holes rusted through. Status pending as well.

bus_7246
January was a sad month to the legacy fleet. 4 Cs and 12 As were cut from active duty, service hold, or status pending. Cs: 4028, 4047, 4064, 4113 As: 4201, 4205, 4209, 4212, 4213, 4219(officially), 4220, 4223, 4227(officially), 4233(officially), 4238, 4241 4028, 4064 & 4113 were all cut in early January. 4047 was cut about a week or so later. Then the above ALRVs were all slashed in one blindsided chop. The fleet shrinks faster than we wish.

I think they were pretty solid as delivered, which led to complaints, including PCCs being put out on late evening and overnight service, CLRVs not allowed on Howard Park, I forget. 4047 had more resilient wheels installed, kind of like the PCC style. When it showed up, you could sure tell it by its sound.

The car was gutted to prepare for the refurbishment, but someone higher up wrapped up the ALRV life extension program. 4213, 4241 were slated to go for refurbishment, but now that's done and gone. 4212 & 4220 were hold pending cars, but something factored against the fate of the cars. 4223, 4235 & 4238 were holds with ongoing work on the cars. Possibly due to bad histories of performance over a recent period with these cars was the final nail on the coffin for these beauts.
