TTC Orion VII Retirements

Recommended Posts

I can confirm that 7406 7576 is scrap and that 7549 7585 7618 is also most likely scrap as they were visible at hillcrest.

A visit to eglinton a couple weeks ago gave us these retired units

7412 7436 7461 7467

7589 7618

7658 7663 7680 7700.

Also 7457  7459 7510 were at birchmount

7440 is also gone after it smoked up at pape station as well

7459 is now sitting at Eglinton with its bike rack off, number faded, etc.

Edit: 7453 is also gone.

TTC employee posted it on IG.

Think it's been stated numerous times before by others that there are a lot of rumours that go on amongst employees. Best to wait for something official.

As for retired status, I do not believe they are retired from that photo. You need to remove the engines from the bus in order to rebuild them, and considering there are two other bus series being rebuilt currently (the 12xx are wrapping up and the 15xx hybrids are beginning their rebuild) there may just not be enough room to be doing bodywork and repainting for these unpowered shells right now. All three of those buses still have their license plates attached - the license plates are usually one of the first things removed from a bus once it gets retired.

FYI, those buses in the photo were last in service in mid-September, so they've been gone for two months. While some units were out of service for slightly under 2 months for their rebuild, some were out for 4.5 to 6 months - and prototype 8159 was out of service from September 2015 until January 2017. All depends on how busy Hillcrest is for other rebuilds, and what issues a particular bus may be having that complicates its rebuild.

It's just the bumpers that are missing... The service summary didn't list that they were retired...

The rear bumper is attached to the engine rather than the bus frame/body, so when the engine gets removed, the bumper goes with it. In that picture you can see that there isn't anything behind the bumper.

AFAIK, #7693 was in service yesterday on rt. 116 (AM).

I made a mistake, 7693 did have the "7693" written on it's back, but it's the back LED sign that was taken off. But as of today, it now looks like this: 20171119_140711.thumb.jpg.f63e59cf6907a0488663793469ef0f81.jpg

8197 8198 8217 are retired according to a Facebook post which I do not believe. If you PM I can tell you the name of the person

It's already been debunked by this post:

@Matthew TTC 4120 and @FabianColeyLOVESBUSES: I get that you are new here, but please make an effort to post accurate information in well thought out posts. Avoid assumptions and rumours. Above all: don't just post for the sake of posting.

Thank you for the advice. I will try and tone down a bit.
