Downsview 108
And like 2766, the list of TTC techs than know PCCs is dwindling. I'm doubly surprised they have folks who know the ancient stuff like the TRC, the plow, and the radial cars. Very worrying about the future of the museum stock. T3G
Would it be a better idea, at this point, to sell off some of what can be salvaged to other museums, like what happened to Flyer #9348? It'd be a shame to loose all of that equipment to time.
GTAmissions1
What is with the TTC staff at Union Station at every fare gate entrance? Are they drivers taking "light duties" until they are fit to resume "normal duties?" I heard a rumour that when they didn't have the "staff" at all the entrances, people would "jump the turnstiles" all the time and not pay the correct fare. Just hearing too many rumours of counterfeit fare media such as tokens, tickets, day passes and metropasses. Hopefully the Presto card gets rolled out soon enough. D. DeLarge
They're not rumors. And oh yeah, Presto will save us from all this? Good luck with that. Presto can't even get its ducks in a row when it comes to autoloading. If it goes down at Union one rush hour after full implementation, the hoards pouring out of Union Station into the subway probably won't all line up at the booths and wait to pay cash fares to get in... (more likely they'll just get waved in by staff for free). And many people don't even pay the correct fare at entrances anyway. Dump a load of change in the farebox that looks like the correct fare and you'll be let in. Electronic fareboxes could have solved this years ago, but we all know the story... Yes, sadly we do, but then what other company do you know of that not only tolerates but accepts fare evasion, (current figure running at $22 million a year) as a necessary 'cost of doing business' or has that always been just an excuse for being too lazy and incompetent to actually tackle the issue once and for all? ttcbusdude
I had a conversation with my friend and this came out: 1) Since 14 got transferred to Mount Dennis, do you want 33 to be transferred to Mount Dennis as well? A: No, 14 should be Eglinton 2) 59 Maple Leaf is Arrow, wow it should not be Arrow. A: 59 Maple Leaf should be Mount Dennis and Wilson during rush hours. During off rush hour, it should be Wilson. 3) 75 should be Mount Dennis if 6 is Mount Dennis. A: It should be Queensway. He said that when the artics arrive, 107 should be Arrow. By the way, the artic was great. I am sure that it will be at Mount Dennis since Mount Dennis has the hoist for the artic.

According to http://ttc.ca/News/2013/October/1003_Articu_Bus.jsp The articulated buses will operate out of the TTC’s Wilson, Mount Dennis and Malvern garages. I kind of understand the 14 considering they have the 32. Mt Dennis lost Symington, Junction and Vaughan which also doesn't make sense. Supposedly needed more buses on Eglinton due to construction which is why they transfered 40 and 90 but then they get 505 street car replacement buses. Agree 59 should be Mt.Dennis but then what about the 109...... Long story short, nothing is perfect and they will continue to make changes as they see fit. Mike
A quick observations.... Took a look at the next bus arrival screens at Finch Station and was amazed to see that they didn't even show the same time at the top of the screen. Actual time was 7:43 and the screens read 7:40, 7:41 and 7:46. Why would the screens show different times - aren't they all controlled by a single computer? smallspy
So the problem then is that noone at the TTC knows what time it is? Might explain the way some of the routes operate Not quite... Each computer has its own internal clock. It seems as if they have not set up (or have made possible) an application that would co-ordinate the time between all of the computers. Of course, if the computers are not tied in to the internet, they would need a source with which to tell them what is the "correct" time, and if that isn't co-ordinated with something like an atomic clock than that wouldn't be much better. BBC 9197
They must get their data from the internet, they should be wired into CIS time. I suggest you email the TTC and ask them.
smallspy
They must get their data from the internet, they should be wired into CIS time. I suggest you email the TTC and ask them. The thing is that they may not be wired into the internet, but rather an internal network set up for this. And frankly, you want to minimize your external connections to try and prevent the ability for someone to hack the systems. You have to remember that the displays are also tied into the signal system. Dan

BBC 9197
I would take these numbers with a shaker of salt! The TTC doesn't often enough conduct ridership counts to know that some of these "less than economical" routes have greatly improved their ridership numbers in recent years.
