Yeah, isn't that obvious? the sound emits from that general location in the bus, and the shape of the grill is important to how the sound actually travels through it. The sound could bouncing of the middle separator in the OG vent than the uni-grill NG. Sound tarvel in waves, and some can be reflected or absorbed by extra matter. The difference wouldn't be veryyyyy big, but you could notice it.

Except that the sound that is emanated from the ancillaries of the motor are vastly dwarfed by the sound of the motor itself. And thus, the sound is coming from the exhaust pipe, not from other openings on the vehicle.

Damn so that means TTC novas are electric

I’m just using your logic

Wow. Great explanation. Let me guess, your saying because the Novas have no rear facing grill, they make no noise? Notice how the noise almost 95% travels through the exhaust pipe and the rest travels through vents. There are vents on the Novas, Side for example. Stop making fun of people, by the way.

You obviously don't know either how noise is "generated", or how buses are built.

The fact that there are vents has absolutely zero bearing on what the vehicle is going to sound like. The same goes for your car, by the way.

Cover up an exhaust pipe on a car and see if it still makes noise. Not saying your wrong, but still.

The info is clear. You just didn't search it up.

According to this, BYD is coming first, but is delayed

That's outdated, BYD is delivering in April now while NFI is delivering in March

Just a thought, would a electric bus be capable to run on the highways such as the DVP (rt. 144) and the 427 (rt. 927) at any given period? The 927 HIGHWAY 27 EXPRESS may be capable of running the XE40s though they may have difficulty keeping their batteries charged while at high speeds while driving via the 427 just as the Orion VII diesel-electric hybrid buses do.

The 139 FINCH-DON MILLS had the same experience with hybrids when the route ran southbound express via the 404 in some matters.

I think they'd be better off deploying them on routes they know will not deteriorate the condition of the bus. After all, this is a trial period so who knows. We'll probably see them deployed on those routes (DVP rt. 144, Highway 427 rt. 927) once or twice so they know for future deployments but I doubt they will be regulars on these routes. The TTC has enough diesels in the fleet to restrict these buses from the highway.

But eventually the TTC will have a fully electric fleet. What do they do then with the highway situation. You won't have enough diesels to run then will you?

Only if you count buses in revenue service. ?

Don't really know if this would work but, you know how MTA has Highway Coaches in operation (D4500, X3-45 and they just demoed a J4500), right? Couldn't the TTC do this, and use them as express route buses, and use the electric buses from normal routes? (the highway coaches would be diesel)
