History
- October 1, 1973 - Route introduced, operated by the Southeastern Michigan Transportation Authority through a "purchase-of-service" agreement with the Great Lakes Transit Corporation. It initially services 12 Mile Road between Royal Oak and East Jefferson Avenue.
- April 1, 1974 - SEMTA takes complete control of this route.
- Summer 1975 - Route numbered 740 by SEMTA.
- October 14, 1983 - Route discontinued.
- March 4, 1985 - Route reintroduced, now operating as far east as the Macomb Mall Hub.
- January 17, 1989 - Service carried on by SMART.
- December 11, 1995 - Route extended west from Royal Oak to Haggerty Road.
- November 27, 2006 - Short-turn Sunday service introduced.
- December 12, 2011 - Due to systemwide service cuts, route is cut back to 12 Mile Road and Harper Avenue for a short time before being extended to 13 Mile Road and Little Mack Avenue.
- September 11, 2023 - Route is extended into Novi and Wixom via 12 Mile Road, Beck Road, and Grand River Avenue to the Meijer gas station and Fifth Third Bank west of Wixom Road. This extension does not affect Sunday service, which continues to terminate at the Royal Oak Transit Center. This service change is the result of Oakland County moving into a countywide opt-in model that was approved by voters in the November 2022 general election.
- January 8, 2024 - The stop on westbound 12 Mile Road across from Twelve Oaks Mall is removed, with all westbound trips rerouted to serve the eastbound stop.
