BBfellow Posted November 21, 2011 Report Posted November 21, 2011 Eight sets now, enough to displace eight sets of T1's which would displace the remaining 5.67 sets of H4's... Oh no! Need to ride them before its too late. Also, I noticed that its really hard to look through the windows onto the platform from inside the train. Is the train really that bright?

justincase Posted November 21, 2011 Report Posted November 21, 2011 the new subway cars look great but there is only one problem. The handle bars that people hold onto during the ride make a lot of annoying noise and you guys should look at people's faces after hearing it, makes me laugh every time hope they get to it and fix it soon, otherwise its great way to travel

The ride itself was very quiet, and the only noise were the handlebars, which I see can get as annoying as the T1 braking if enough people are constantly moving the handlebars throughout the trip.

Articulated Posted November 22, 2011 Report Posted November 22, 2011 5461-66 on 105 Rode this on 131 run around 9:15pm westbound at Union.
new.flyer.408 Posted November 22, 2011 Report Posted November 22, 2011 Rode 547 set (Finch-St Clair W run) this morning and the AA wasn't working properly until Lawrence. The train thought Finch was Downsview and got confused when we reached 'Wilson' (North York Centre). Exterior destination signs were fine though. I noticed that the AA system is integrated with the LED map as well; both were non-functional/transmitted incorrect information. The announcements on the train were also echoed much more and weren't as loud as on the 542 set.

That can happen now and then... it's a simple correction on the touch screen in the cab but only if the operator realizes it's happening, as it's not on a part of the screen that's prominent enough for the operator to pay attention to while busy operating the train.
Cityflyer Posted November 25, 2011 Report Posted November 25, 2011 I saw 5501 and 5503 on a truck going westbound at Hwy 7 and Yonge.
Volvo Super Olympian Posted November 25, 2011 Report Posted November 25, 2011 i finally rode the TR... (yeah i know it's sad..) but none the less it's quite remarkable just 1 question though.. Why is the HVAC so loud? compared to the T1's they are so much louder.. atleast i think it's the HVAC anyway..
38 Highland Creek Posted December 3, 2011 Report Posted December 3, 2011 i finally rode the TR... (yeah i know it's sad..)but none the less it's quite remarkable just 1 question though.. Why is the HVAC so loud? compared to the T1's they are so much louder.. atleast i think it's the HVAC anyway.. Probly it's more exposed than all the A/C-equipped trains the TTC has. Also, more fans to circulate the air inside the bigger interior.
dowlingm Posted December 4, 2011 Report Posted December 4, 2011 5481-5486 is out as 197 on a training run. Saw it on the opposite track in service on Friday evening.
D. DeLarge Posted December 4, 2011 Report Posted December 4, 2011 Saw it on the opposite track in service on Friday evening. According to the photo I snapped, it was doing run 102 Friday. There's usually one at St. George heading sbnd around 4:50pm.

ttcgeek Posted December 5, 2011 Report Posted December 5, 2011 5481-86 is on 113 and 5491-96 is testing/training tonight.
TTCNLFBT Posted December 6, 2011 Report Posted December 6, 2011 Brand new 5506 being pushed by an RT workcar this morning.
Joe Posted December 7, 2011 Report Posted December 7, 2011 Rode the new trains today and I did noticed that the overhead handles are really squeaky. Hopefully they will do something about that and fix the problem. I've also noticed there are lots of garbage lying around on the trains. People just have no respect for these trains whatsoever...but that's Torontonians for ya...
63 Ossington Posted December 7, 2011 Report Posted December 7, 2011 The handles are squeaky in part because they're spring-loaded and are loose, allowing for vibration when moved. The T1 handles aren't as loose. Loose as in you can wiggle them around.

And you checked the ID of everybody who was littering and can prove that they were all from Toronto (Torontonians)??? Perhaps they should cancel the order of new streetcars and use that money to solve the problem of squeaky handles so you can have a squeak free ride
Downsview 108 Posted December 7, 2011 Report Posted December 7, 2011 I noticed the TR's lights dim frequently. Most times going over section gaps, others from what seems to be load from the AC. Do all cars experience this?

Do people not know where the F to put their trash? I don't want to start this debate again...
Bus_Medic Posted December 7, 2011 Report Posted December 7, 2011 Really...does it matter where they are from? Do people not know where the F to put their trash? I don't want to start this debate again... I believe you just did......
