Bearing also in mind that internally, 4500 and 4549 are referred to by their sequential A15 rebuild numbers (4604 and 4605 IIRC). You are freaking out about whether the TTC will be able to keep track of a vehicle that bears the number only on its carbody.

Which exactly explains why the order was for 204 Flexities, and not 205 or 206. ?

And also why we won't get any additional Flexities.

Looks like 4498 will enter service tomorrow, as it at the front of the line on track 5 in the yard. It will be 13 days since arriving to go into service.

4497 GPS has the car elsewhere for the last few day. It been here 15 days so far.

Car 4497 was in service on 510 on Friday, Sep. 14, only 10 days after delivery. However, that was its first and last day of service. It ran in to Leslie for a change-off around 1:30 PM and has been missing since, so presumably something happened to it.

In other news, the GPS on car 4500 has been activated.

4500's GPS still says PCC instead of Flexity if you use the tracker on Transsee.

Wier that 4500 is tracking now as a Russell car, as it wasn't when I posted a few hours ago. More so, it is a head of 4499 that arrived on the 14th that still not tracking and just arrived 2 days ago.

Was surprised to see 4497 back in the service bay after one day of service, with its GPS being all over the place since then.

I'd think that's just Transee's programming guessing on the type of vehicle from the number. Their data comes from Nextbus ... and there's no indication I see on the Nextbus data feed showing the vehicle type:

http://webservices.nextbus.com/service/publicXMLFeed?command=vehicleLocation&a=ttc&v=4500&t=0

4500 has been around for the PCC for a long time. But I've never seen live data from it before. Nor does the PCC usually sit at Leslie Barn - https://www.transsee.ca/fleetfind?a=ttc&q=4500-4500&Go=Go&refresh=11#MapMain

Car 4499 is now tracking as well and has begun on-street testing.

I watch it leave the yard after seeing it was tracking. Lets see if they can get it into service in the 10-12 day time frame.

It will be interesting to see which PCC is out for service on Sunday. If they can get 4500 ready in time, maybe we will see 2 4500 on the system at the same time.

TTC invites you on a sentimental streetcar journey

September 20, 2018

This Sunday, the TTC recognizes the 80th anniversary of the PCC streetcar in Toronto by taking one of its two vintage Red Rocket streetcars out for a ceremonial ride downtown.

PCC streetcars first entered service in the city on September 23, 1938. The PCC fleet, more than 740 strong at its peak, was one of the largest in North America and did a venerable job of serving millions of daily transit riders over generations.

The last PCC cars were retired from TTC service in 1995.

Rides on the vintage streetcar will be free of charge on Sunday.

PCC stands for Presidents' Conference Committee.

What: Vintage PCC #4549 will be taking a ceremonial journey downtown Toronto, fare-free.
Where: Serving stops along Queen Street, between Bathurst Street and Church Street.
When: Sunday, September 23, 2018 from approximately 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Why: The TTC is providing an opportunity for the public to take a trip back in time, take photos and celebrate 80 years since the first PCC streetcar entered in service in Toronto.

4499 could be in service by Friday or sooner.

4500 could see service come Monday

Unless a car or two show up by Friday, the testers will have some free time on their hands next week.

Starting next week and until the end of the year is going to be the real test to see if all shipping schedule and in service will be met for the year.
