8000-8006 is at North Queen. That doesn't seem good...

8003 isn't, yet. It was on the 71 yesterday and last reported out of Queensway 26 minutes ago.

Only a matter of time, though. Everyone make sure you get your photos and rides in now before they pull the plug!

Has the TTC considering doing a retention of two Orion VII buses, namely #1000 and #8099 like two Fishbowls and two PCCs? My take why they should keep the two vehicles because they have meanings: #1000 was Canada's first conventional hybrid transit bus (correct me if I’m wrong) and #8099 was the last first generation Orion VII built.

You're lucky to even have the GMs and PCCs.

1000 should be kept but we know that will never happen

Consider it accurate. #8000-#8002, #8004-#8006 are now withdrawn and to be hauled to the scrapyard after decommissioning. Only 91 buses remain in active service: #8003, #8007-#8044, #8046-#8057, #8059-#8094, #8096-#8099.

While it's probably true we should wait until it's confirmed. Anything Is possible

Posting just as a courtesy (why I don’t know)

I got an inside tip that the remaining 8000 airport units will be pulled from service tomorrow night, so those that can, get your last rides in.

This should surprise no one, as the luggage rack installs on the assigned 3300s are complete.

8003, 8009, and 8010 made it out for the evening rush hour this evening. 8010 was in service from 2:24 PM to 7:17 PM, doing a trip on route 112 before moving over to the 900, 8009 was in service from 3:32-10:08 PM, and 8003 is still in service right now, having entered service at 3:08 PM and is scheduled to be in service until 2:11xm.

HUGE thanks to Bus Medic for the tip!

As of 1:24am on December 20, 8003 remains in service on route 900 and will remain in service until 2:11am assuming that the schedule is followed and nothing happens to it.

#8003 has pulled in Kipling Station one final time at 1:44xm as I type this and departed Kipling for the last time at 1:50xm.

ADDENDUM (2:03 AM ET) — It is finished. 2:03xm officially marked the end of the Airport-branded Orion VII Gen-IV diesel buses in Toronto.

2:03xm did not mark the end of anything as 8003 is on 501 Queen, 8007 on 73 Royal York, 8008 on 112 West Mall, 8009 on 337 Islington Blue Night/37 Islington and 8010 on 46 Martin Grove.

Put that on a cake for all your buddies to eat at the party.

^This is the seemingly inevitable “why I don’t know” part of extending the courtesy of providing inside information.

Sometimes dates change and foremen have to pivot on their heels to adapt to changing directives from their superiors, often literally overnight.

I can assure you though that they won’t be returning after service gets reduced for the Christmas break at the end of the week.

You guys can watch from the fenceline and guess going forward if you’re going to be pedantic twats.
