They were making a big fuss about blue LEDs.

It’s a Transport Canada red flag that had them changed when driven from the factory to Toronto

Pretty cool that’s it’s signed onto 40 Junction-Dundas West. Too bad we won’t actually see it running on that route 🤷‍♂️

Given how sluggish the XE40s accelerate, and the frequent delays on the 40 during the busiest times, they would not be the ideal bus to deploy on that route.

I really hope that the protective shields on the NOVA LFSe buses for the operators will be a lot more solid and protective than the crap they currently have on the XE40s. The shield those buses have is so useless, it might as well not even be there. No protection at all.

Looks like It's the same as 7000 series buses.

Wouldn't that be a software setting limiting torque at startup? Electric vehicles can move off quite briskly, even if their acceleration at higher speed is limited due to weight and lower horsepower. Of course there could be battery and wiring limitations as well.

It could be a software setting, but it could also be the fact that the XE40s are very top-heavy. Even if you floor it from a complete stop, it will still accelerate very slowly.

Those buses frequently go down for weeks at a time too. Even now, there are bugs in their system that have not been sorted out.

They cant possibly as slow as slow box Orion 7400-7620.  I can accelerate faster than some of the Orion 7 with ac heck. Heck cement trucks can accelerate faster than those slow box during summer

I have operated the Diesel Orion 7s and NG 8100s, Diesel NOVA LFS units , and the XE40s. By far, the XE40s are the most sluggish-accelerating buses I have ever driven.

Just for clarity sakes, there are two types of Orion 7s, The S50 EGR engine "slowbox" (7400-7883) and the Cummins ISL engine (7900-8099). The 7900s will definitely accelerated a lot better than the 7400s.

The ones I got to drive are the 7900 and 8000 series. Never got to try the previous S50 version.

Funny that you guys say that but some of them already need new tires, so the torque on them must be pretty powerful. Either that or cheap tires.

7000's series Nova's are much slower of the line than 3400-3500's. After about 25-30km/h they feel about the same. I believe this is due to software so that bus takes off slower to prevent passengers from falling.

TTC uses Goodyear or Bridgestone tires. Not exactly cheap tires.

Do the 7000-series NOVA units have the same long dwell times as the previous editions due to the rear doors taking a long time to close?

I don't find new or older Nova hybrids taking a long time to close rear doors. Compared to the Nova artics these doors closed pretty fast.

All the Nova since the 3100s switched to all electric doors opposed to those prior to them have some compressed air mechanism that takes a few moments to activate. I hate those doors.

it’s interesting to watch people use all their force to try to open it when you can simply touch the bar. It’ll still take just as long.

the doors are usually faster but they have touch-sensitive door bars instead of push bars so confused passengers (and door glitches) can mess up dwells

I've never had one glitch but people do get confused, or try to push on them or use their elbow or something. Also if you have gloves on or try to use your sleeve, it won't work. A touch is all it takes to open the rear doors.

usually the glitches are caused by the confused passengers trying to force the doors
they usually don't happen though

So how will the doors work in let's say the winter?

Nova 6600 should be at Arrow today. If not today , tomorrow.

It will be a pilot bus, and be toured around to various garages before more LFSe are delivered.

Since there seems to be confusion. Did you mean 6601 when you posted this?

Myself and others I know have not seen 6600 anywhere on property. Nor have any photos of it been posted.

The info at the time was 6600. But looks like 6601 showed up.
