An update on 4089, a CLRV was spotted by someone I know on Sunday near Dundas and College, with the top roof removed and a truck following behind. I think it's 4089 and I think it's a streetcar workcar now.

Do you got any pics? Was this person a valid source?

There are so many things wrong with this that I call BS on it.

- The roof is off yet somehow has traction/power?

- Why would it be at Dundas and College of all places?

I've never heard anything of 4124 either. What has happened to that car?

Last time I saw it was Feb 29th in the yard. It was not visible during a subsequent visit in March, although I know at one point there was a small stash of CLRVs inside the carhouse at Russell, excluding 4001 and 4081.

Scrap no, but the car was cut in the first week or so of 2017.

I see.

The reason I asked was that some point in the mid 90s, 4088 was rear ended by 4100. 4100 was the more damaged of the two CLRVs but both were repaired and 4100 lasted until almost near the end.

I was told by a volunteer at Halton that its a Seashore parts car. Also I think 4133 is a Halton parts car or a second seashore parts car. Not too sure

I can say with 100% certainty 4133 is Seashore's spare (and they only have one spare). Once they take the trucks off though, it will remain at Halton for parts. 4155 is the American mining museum's spare.

I'm sorry everyone, I goofed. American Industrial Mining Museum's spare is 4170. I don't know whats going on with 4155.

Is this in a spreadsheet format?

If it's a spreadsheet, you can do things like sort on date of retirement, which would also be interesting.

I might do that one day, but not right now as I sit outside a library (distancing in my closed car) using the wifi that is still running.

I didn't do it in a spreadsheet format, no.

In hindsight that would've been a really good idea, but I just did it in notepad, for ease of mass distributing the data.

The fact that you can also do that with a spreadsheet didn't occur to me...!

It should be able to be put into a spreadsheet with relatively little effort. One column would have car number, one retirement date, and then a notes column. Having a metadata column for more details (Swiss or Canadian CLRV, ALRV) would be gilding the lily. You'd probably have to do a search and delete for a lot of the text, "removed for scrap" mostly. As long as you can convince Excel that the number is one column and the date is another column you should be fine--and that's the hard work right there.

Like I said, I'd do it when I get a chance, but not in a parking lot with a laptop in my lap....

Is it consistently formatted like one line of text per record, i.e each streetcar in this example, with tabs or commas separating each piece of data on each line (oh dear god I’m showing my age talking about tab delimited text records...)?  Something like that would be very easily spreadsheet importable.  Even if it’s loose text it wouldn’t be too hard with only 248 entries to set up a fleet number column automatically and prune out the missing entries for the prototypes that were never built and then copy and paste the rest of it in instead of doing a lot of shell script grep and cat manipulations or something like that to chew through it and spit out a ready for import file which would be less work than doing it by hand if it was a horribly long list.

Aside from the historic cars, how many CLRVs remain at Russel that are not stripped?

As of 11:30 am today there are 12 CLRVs on the dead tracks. Don't know how many are inside the Barns as the doors were closed.
