Xtrazsteve Posted January 23, 2015 Report Share Posted January 23, 2015 Spotting 9135 on 41 today. 9135 and 9143 have been out since Tuesday. 9148 started service yesterday, but for some reason it has been taken out of service shortly and disappears from Transsee. 10 has made it to service, only 8 more artics to go. That marks the 149th and 150th artic in service. 9151 entered service yesterday and 9145 earlier this week. Just 9146, 9147 and 9149 go to. Edit: 9149 went out too. 2 more to go. That's NovaBus' fault for not realizing that they can't complete TTC's order in time. If the TTC or other TA's can't get their next order in time, they can penalize NovaBus. The 27 buses haven't been approved by council, only by the TTC board. They need to vote on the additional subsidies to the TTC when they discuss the budget. This number is likely going to change depending on next year's budget. What is interesting is the TTC has moved to an 18% spare ratio which means they operates less service and buy more buses. Its not like they are getting rid of the Hybrids Nope, not the hybrids but the slowboxes. What's strange is they will stockpile new buses first before retiring buses. The D40LFs will go in 2017 and then the 7400's will start retirement in 2018 throughout 2021. This will allow the fleet to grow until the reduction when the Eglinton LRT opens. If the Eglinton LRT doesn't open in 2020, the TTC is in for another bus shortage. That's going to force the hybrids to retire later which we all know can't happen. Just sit be good, watch and catch them when they are IN service on a route or on the road. 8400 is most likely the "pilot" like 9000 and that's all for now. I'm pretty sure the operators are operating the rear doors to get the bus moving faster. There is nothing wrong with converting this thread for general NovaBus deliveries. The Hybrids are the reason we need a higher spare ratio. Arrow had to throw out 7200s during Saturdays snowstorm because so many Hybrids crapped out. 7 were dead on Wilson alone. The schedule is shifted by 2 months so that the 2nd bus will arrive in April. No wonder why they are dumping the RTS'es this quickly. Hopefully this will give the TTC 30 more buses by Pam Am Games. But I'm not sure why TTC even thought of NFI when they could easily just extend the contract to the existing 55 bus order. I guess they tried to give NFI a shot.
