TTC Nova Bus Delivery & Service Tracking

Recommended Posts

Spotting 9135 on 41 today.

9135 and 9143 have been out since Tuesday. 9148 started service yesterday, but for some reason it has been taken out of service shortly and disappears from Transsee.

10 has made it to service, only 8 more artics to go.

Edit: looks like 9148 is still running on the 41.

Good they can wait in line this time instead of causing a production delay for everyone else.

That's NovaBus' fault for not realizing that they can't complete TTC's order in time. If the TTC or other TA's can't get their next order in time, they can penalize NovaBus. That's how business works.

so ttc gets (55+27) 82 bus in this year incl option. Right?

The 27 buses haven't been approved by council, only by the TTC board. They need to vote on the additional subsidies to the TTC when they discuss the budget. If all goes well, TTC should have 82 LFS'es by the end of the year.

Next year's order includes 121 buses (the 23 remaining of the 50 additional buses and 98 more). This number is likely going to change depending on next year's budget. What is interesting is the TTC has moved to an 18% spare ratio which means they operates less service and buy more buses.

That many buses. That will definitely change by next year. Its not like they are getting rid of the Hybrids

Nope, not the hybrids but the slowboxes.

What's strange is they will stockpile new buses first before retiring buses. The D40LFs will go in 2017 and then the 7400's will start retirement in 2018 throughout 2021. This will allow the fleet to grow until the reduction when the Eglinton LRT opens. If the Eglinton LRT doesn't open in 2020, the TTC is in for another bus shortage. That's going to force the hybrids to retire later which we all know can't happen. They aren't Orion V's

  • 2 weeks later...

The 8400s would be a fun series. Unlike the artics which only appear on certain routes, these buses can eventually appear on any route of the garage that has them. Unless they find the doors to be super slow and they stick them on low ridership routes. I really hope this doesn't happen. The doors on the MTD artics are retarded.

I'm pretty sure the operators are operating the rear doors to get the bus moving faster.

There is nothing wrong with converting this thread for general NovaBus deliveries. Wasn't the Orion VII thread the same for all Orion VII's?

The speed of the doors is a setting that can easily be changed. The Arrow Road units are pretty good.

The Hybrids are the reason we need a higher spare ratio. Arrow had to throw out 7200s during Saturdays snowstorm because so many Hybrids crapped out. 7 were dead on Wilson alone.

Based on the schedule attached to the amended Procurement Authorization in this weeks meeting, it will 55+24 buses in 2015, with another 26 buses arriving in January 2016.

Though the first bus is due this week (sounds like it made it), the second bus isn't due until June:

If you read carefully:

Acceleration of the delivery schedule for the base order of 55 buses subject to a reduced testing period of the pilot bus to one month from up to three months as detailed in Appendix A.

The schedule is shifted by 2 months so that the 2nd bus will arrive in April. No wonder why they are dumping the RTS'es this quickly. Hopefully this will give the TTC 30 more buses by Pam Am Games.

So TTC was looking at lease-to-own. NFI tried and failed again. That's depressing. But I'm not sure why TTC even thought of NFI when they could easily just extend the contract to the existing 55 bus order. I guess they tried to give NFI a shot.

And as for 8400, I was obviously bullshitting. But Feb 27th is the day we all look out for it.
