I just read further into the article and stated the information in the article. I did not demand a change and was only trying to help. how about in the future we start double checking the facts before making such accusations against a person we have never even met.

I wasn't aiming my post at you - and I'm sorry if it appeared that way. Many of the earlier posts in this thread had tons of speculation - we went from XDE40 delivered in 2014/2015 to 4 diesel units of an unknown manufacturer (since this hasn't been tendered yet) in 2013/2014 that may not even happen because it hasn't been tendered - that's kind of a major change. This is more of what I made my post about, and I'd like to thank you for finding the mistake and pointing out the correct information.

Okay, well this is the info i know: There will be 4 40' diesel units ordered this year that TW would like to have in service by the end of the year. The money used to purchase these comes from the money they saved by not having to replace their casino shuttle fleet. The buses being added in 2014 are part of the bi-yearly vehicle budget that the city provides for the purchase of new vehicles. It has not yet gone to tender so we do not know who will be supplying them, but i believe the new flyers are generally less expensive and we already have 29 new flyer vehicles in service, 11 of which are Xcelsiors; people really like the Xcelsiors as well. Moreover, the last 29 vehicles were purchased through the procurement by metrolinx, so it will likely be whoever wins the procurement for 40' clean diesel vehicles this year.

The money committed at this year's budget meeting is to fund more maintenance, more frequent service and to purchase an AVS system. The money for the more frequent service is only committed for this year, however so if TW can't realize more funding for 2014, we will probably lose those service enhancements on the 1C and 2 next fall.

That's what we know so far.

The BYD buses were never actually ordered. The city of Windsor committed to purchase up to 10 vehicles if BYD opened an assembly plant in the city, but the Canadian government did not approve their use in Canada, so the city did not place the order. I would still like to see some electric buses in Windsor though, we were in line to be the first with full sized electric buses in North America. Maybe we could try some XE40s when they are available? The city probably won't fund their purchase though.

Well STLaval will be the first system to operate fully electric full size bus in Canada, not to mention the Tecnobus Gulliver operating inside the old Quebec City

Today I saw 426 downtown waiting to be used. I thought that 426 was retired but after today I was wrong.

Later today I will post the picture that I took on my phone of 426. I'm so sick of seeing Orion 6 on the 7.

426 was never retired, it had a blown engine and there was a dispute about the warranty so it sat for over two & half years. Also watch for 437 as it is going to have the fire damage fixed and put back on the road sometime this year.

They are too young and repairable for Transit Windsor to retire them with how short they are now with the fleet.

I'm really not liking the mentioned service cuts here:

http://www.google.co...99%2Fstory.html

especially this

Among those redundant routes is the South Windsor 7, which will now be ending at 7 p.m. instead of the current 10 p.m. The South Windsor 7 is a loop, which travels around the University of Windsor area, but Williams said that other routes also service the area.

The 7 heads all the way to Legacy park, have they forgotten that? cutting it early could leave st. claire students without a means to get home if they need to be at school late and it will make it even more difficult to bus home from a movie, not to mention Devonshire mall closes at 9pm, meaning people who took the 7 there will have to go home a lot earlier. night bus service in south Windsor is already bad, this is just ridiculous.

Let me add one thing to the Windsor forum. I posted route suggestions a while ago and asked for input about them. I received lots, and I would like to thank everyone for this. Now if only the people that use this subforum all the time could tell the Hamilton ones how to be nice and properly give feedback.

The difference here is Windsor needs many service improvements and anything suggested compared to what their doing looks good. Living in Hamilton my whole life I'd say the HSR has a pretty decent network all ready and you practically changed every route, not knowing the ridership patterns for each one. It's nice to see suggestions but they just weren't practical.

I've been wondering why our 3 Orion Vs are rarely showing up on the South Windsor 7 during the week. I'm only seeing classics and Orion VIs. One day would be nice if ether 411 or 412 got signed to SW7. I know that 499 is a extra 1C in the morning during the week. Did they ever fix 566 or retired it.

They probably get assigned the way they are parked in the garage. There's only 3 orion v's and 20+ classics so the chances of getting a classic are obviously greater.
