Pierce County Public Transportation Benefit Area Corporation or Pierce Transit provides public transit service in Tacoma and Pierce County, Washington.
Operations
Pierce Transit's fixed service area covers 414 square miles[1] serving an estimated population of 767,000 individuals in towns and cities such as Auburn, Bonney Lake, Buckley, DuPont, Fife, Edgewood, Fircrest, Gig Harbor, Lakewood, Milton, Orting, Puyallup, Ruston, Steilacoom, Sumner, Tacoma and University Place in addition to unincorporated areas of Pierce County[1]. The transit system consists of 52 fixed bus routes, 15 Sound Transit routes, SHUTTLE, a specialized transportation service for the disabled, Vanpool, ridematching and intercounty express bus service in cooperation with Sound Transit and Intercity Transit.

Prior to 1980, the operator was Tacoma Transit System.

Transit Bus Roster
The Pierce Transit bus fleet includes 272 vehicles, all of which are American Disabilities Act (ADA) compliant. The majority of the bus fleet run on compressed natural gas. Sound Transit owns 77 of Pierce Transit's bus fleet; these buses service routes that originate from Pierce County and South King County and travel to the Puget Sound service area.
