577 Federal Way/Seattle is an express bus route operated by Sound Transit in the Puget Sound area of Washington State. This route is operated by Pierce Transit under contract[1].

Route Details

This north-south express bus route runs between Federal Way and Downtown Seattle. Normal service frequencies are 10-20 minutes. This is a limited service route with morning peak service running northbound and southbound service during the morning and afternoon peak hours. Weekend service is also available hourly.

The route shares portions of its service with route 578 Puyallup/Seattle; it is seen as a combined corridor service between Seattle and Federal Way[2]. Providing non-stop service via I-5 HOV lanes allows for a quick and efficient trip with significant time savings.

It was proposed by Sound Transit staff to migrate service from King County Metro Transit to Pierce Transit to realize significant cost savings. Articulated buses would be replaced with MCI express service coaches[3]. Subject to Sound Transit board approval, the reassignment would occur in February 2011.
