ElDorado National is an American manufacturer of transit, paratransit, and shuttle buses. Their bus division, known as ENC, is located in Riverside California. Their van and cutaway bus division, know as Eldorado is located in Salina, Kansas.
History
In 1988, Thor Industries acquired ElDorado Motor, a manufacturer of small buses based in Salina, Kansas. Three years later in 1991, Thor acquired National Coach, a manufacturer of mid-sized buses. The two companies operated under the ElDorado National name. At the end of July 2013, Allied Specialty Vehicles (now known as the REV Group), announced that it would acquire the bus business from Thor. This included Champion Bus, General Coach America, Goshen Coach, and ElDorado National.
In March 2016, the Kansas arm of ElDorado National was rebranded as simply "ELDORADO" with a new logo. The California arm was also rebranded as "ENC".
On January 29, 2024, REV Group announced they would be exiting the transit bus manufacturing market by winding down operations at its ENC business. All current ENC orders are expected to be completed and delivered by the end of fiscal year 2024. The company cited difficulty with suppliers and an extremely competitive diesel and CNG transit bus market as its reasons for exiting the business.[1] Concurrently, REV sold its school bus business including the Collins Bus and Mid Bus marques, to Forest River Bus for $303 million cash.
On October 18, 2024, REV finalized sale of ElDorado National (California), Inc. (ENC) to Rivaz, Inc. for a purchase price of approximately $52 million. The bus production will continue under Rivaz. [2]
