Cool!

Same consist that was in the garage the other day when I took a picture of it. The lead car and Center car we're being worked on and the other two cars were split up.

Nice to see they're running mixed consists.

Currently riding 2219 on the refurbished consist on the Blue Line. Just departed Franklin for 69 Street on I assume itself lts first revenue run. The interior is different with sinilarities to the S200s. (As previously mentioned in earlier posts) I'm not going to lie, these plastic seats on a SD160 are very weird as being accustomed to cushion seats since the SD160s entered service in 2001. As a passenger, the seats are way better than the S200 for height, but they are still rather uncomfortable. Aside the seating arrangement and being a SD160, it feels like I'm riding a S200.

Riding #2207-2219-2205 up and down the West Line this afternoon. Seats are reminiscent of #2333 plus the added benefit of the same textured coating as on the S200’s. Much more comfortable than the S200 seats. Same door sensors, floor, and infotainment systems as the S200’s.

Ride wise, it accelerates and rides no different than pre-refurb, and still sounds exactly the same. The difference is during stopping. It seems the disc brake logic has been modified, and it no longer has the noticeable jerk that the SD160’s always had when coming to a stop. Very smooth to the point where the stop is almost unnoticeable. In fact it stops even more smoothly than the S200’s!

I've done the same, but I'm only 5'11.

In the future, will SD160s be able to run with S200s?

No. Or at least, not for this refurb. The SD160s are being refurbished to run with the SD160NG/Series 8s. This will potentially unify all the SD160 variants so they can eventually all run together - assuming the refurb program continues to run completely through Series 5, 6 and 7.

I got the chance to ride 2205 today.

Love the changes that they did to these cars.  The infotainment system from the S200s is a very welcome change and the amount of displays (6 in total) is also nice as well.  Although the seats are a downgrade from the vinyl padded seats on the pre-refurb ones, the new seats in my opinion are more comfortable than the ones on the Series 8 and 9s.  Can’t wait for more refurbed units to be active.
