  1. These two photos did not come out right at all. My iPhone just wouldn't focus. In the case of the first photo, I was too close to the bus to get all of it in the frame plus it was unfocused. The second just refused to focus but would have been decent otherwise.
  2. Edit: quoted wrong post I'm going to say not. 2008 Orion V with EPA 2007 ISL/B400R (those are uncommon) or 1992 Orion V with 6V92TA/HTB-748?
  3. A WTF/FML moment during my spare period at school: I had an unopened ginger ale can in my bag today that I was saving for home. My school binder happened to be in there as well. At the end of third period, everything seemed fine. However, at the very beginning of fourth period, I get my binder out and it is soaked. I found out that it was coming from the ginger ale (the top was unopened but the bottom was wet, possibly a manufacturing defect or something) and promptly threw the can out. I didn't even know that was possible. I didn't hit my bag on anything and the can wasn't poked by anything. Almost every single piece of paper got soaked in my binder (the bottom quarters of each sheet). I had to let the papers in my binder dry and now my math studying has been postponed until tomorrow assuming they're dry by then. I've also thrown out any wet papers that I don't need. I've also had a streak of bad luck recently. Just the last day before Christmas break, I was walking home and slipped on a road when I was crossing. There was a car coming towards me as well so I'm glad I didn't get hit. The same day, I get on my bus and somehow hit my head on the ceiling when I get off it (it was a D60LFR by the way). A few days later, I get sick during the break...
  4. According the the refurb thread, no. One way to identify a refurbished D60LF would be the absence of the yellow treadles located on the floor of each bottom door (Also applicable to 6642 which was refurbed, also identifiable from outside because the bus will not have yellow strips below the rear doors similar to the S50 D60LFs). However, some D60LFs and D60LFRs lack the yellow treadles despite not being refurbed. The seats also should be dark blue as new covers are put on and the body should be shiny. Only 6365, 6366, 6374, 6381, and 6385 are refurbished and in service at this point. 6380, 6393, and 6402 are being refurbished right now.
  5. Most artics lost the "raindrop" window near the front window because the buses had structural issues. The buses were literally a Classic front end grafted onto a modified 60 foot version of a fishbowl. The front section was the first 30 feet taken straight from a 35 foot Fishbowl, and the rear section of the bus was the last 25 feet of the 40 foot version of the Fishbowl. I recall reading somewhere that the GM artics used normal Fishbowl frames from the front wheelwell back. As a result, they weren't strong enough to handle the increased leverage of the Classic fronts. To compensate, most if not all 53 GM artics from all four agencies (OC, TTC, Hamilton, Mississauga) had to get new frame members welded above the front wheelwell and in the space where the window originally was, thus solving the structural problem.
  6. They are literally lamb testicles.
  7. I found that the Chameleon theme was the only one that showed the post with the normal small font whether I was logged in or not. I tried the blue and red themes while logged out and it resulted in the post having the big font I saw while being logged in with both those themes enabled. I think it's more of an issue with the themes themselves.
  8. Any last words for the 2010s decade before it goes away? I personally think that 2010-2013 were the best moments of my decade although 2014-2016 were still great. 2017-2018 was okay for me, while 2019 just went to shit, especially April-June (not going into specifics, I had some personal issues I had to deal with). The later part of this year was decent though.
  9. This TTC Orion VII Retirements thread post keeps varying in font size depending on whether I log in or not. When I'm signed out, the font appears perfectly normal. However, when I'm actually signed in, the font gets much larger. Here's some photos: (Appearance when signed in) (what the post looks like when I'm signed out)
  10. My obsession with transit started when I was five years old in 2007-2008. I recall this was a time where almost all of our 1989 and up OC Transpo high floor buses were still in service, as well as quite a few 1987 Classics but OC also had all their Inveros, D60LFs, and Orion VIs in service as well. I used to look up OC Transpo buses on my computer. I've also watched lots of videos of OC buses at Transitway stations and ride videos. Ever since then, I've found that I was hooked. However, my transit obsession was basically dormant from 2011-2015 save for a few times where I would catch up on OC Transpo's newest purchases, decisions, etc. I found that from 2016 on, my transit obsession started to slowly evolve in that I was actively doing research on the different types of buses we had. I found this board in 2016 although I did not join until mid 2017. Ever since I joined this board, I've found that my knowledge kept evolving, especially of older OC buses. 2008 me is so different (and much more idiotic) from 2020 me. For example, I thought that our Classics in the red stripe/white body livery were different buses from the ones in the maple leaf livery. I also thought that OC Transpo somehow specified the maple leaf livery on all D40s and 1991-1992 Orion Vs when delivered but inconsistently delivered our Classics in a bunch of schemes. On my eighth birthday in 2010, I tried looking for fishbowls (my dad took me on six bus rides that day) but did not find any and eventually gave up. Little did I know, they were retired since 2007. However, there were still a handful of Classics in service and I should have been looking for those instead. I actually didn't know they were being retired at the time. I don't know what I was smoking back then. Edit: Actually, I remember consciously looking for buses as far back as when I was only three. I even recall which ads were on some of the buses (I have a long term memory that is very good) that I saw back in 2005 and 2006. Don't know why I'm like that. I also vaguely recall my first rides being two D60LFs, one Invero, and one MCI Classic (possibly a 1989 in the stripe livery). I think I also rode what I thought was a D40 or 1992 Orion V back in 2006. I recall the bus having pink/orange seats inside it.
  11. 1147 is still at Hillcrest according to Transsee. However, 1148 and 1149 have just went back to Mount Dennis as of right now. I was watching them go along Weston Rd and Ray Ave.
  12. I think I'll join you @captaintrolley, you seem really lonely here.... I think we need a dedicated "What is captaintrolley eating today?" thread Anyways, I was eating something that you can call questionable... My parents made their own version of a poutine, but there's a catch to it. They baked the fries (leaving them soft), added in cheese shreads (not curds), and put no gravy on the top. Surprisingly, it turned out decent but I really don't like soft fries. They really don't seem to be crazy about actually frying french fries any time we have them. Random question for everyone while I'm at it: baked or deep fried french fries? I don't usually like them baked because they turn out soft every time which I strongly dislike. I much prefer them fried because they have a crispy exterior.
  13. 9054 did have black windows after its rebuild because it was the bus that crashed into Lees station at one point. TTC gave a front end (from a retired D40), black window frames, and some other front stuff (I forget exactly what it was) in order to make the rebuild possible. I quite liked 9054 for that reason. I actually liked the black windows better.
  14. Rebuilt? I recall hearing that along with the paint job, there was also minor body work being done but it's not really a rebuild.
  15. So last night, I had a dream that involved me having to use the toilet at one point. Normal dream right? The weirdest part is when I was done with the toilet in my dream, I woke up and I found that I had actually peed myself... (I was never a bedwetter) This wasn't my first time. I had the same thing randomly happen to me twice a few years ago but that was it.
  16. 2020 is technically the last year of this decade (hint: 2000 was the last year of the 20th century). However, people commonly think that 2000 is part of the 2000s (despite being in the 20th century) and that 2010 is part of the 2010s, so 2020 has to be the start of a new decade in their case. Decades are commonly thought of as 1990-1999, 2000-2009, 2010-2019, but that's not really correct because there wasn't a year zero. I still think of 0-9, 10-19, 20-29, etc as being decades since thinking of them as 1-10, 11-20 seems odd (even though it's correct). Speaking of 2000, can it actually be considered a honorary 1990s year since the decade was from 1991-2000 and not 1990-1999? It wasn't the beginning of a new century so there was nothing really new about it (even though people celebrated it like it was). I've heard people saying that 2000 (and 2001-2003 to some extent) was literally full of late 90s culture.
  17. There are a few corrections here: 9204 was retired in November 2009. 9211 was retired on December 11, 2008 (the second day of the OC Transpo strike). 9002 was retired in February 2009 but isn't on the list. Not a correction but a note: Almost all of the 1992s (9201-9227) were active by February 2009 afaik except for 9202 (retired Sept 2008), 9203 (September 2008 retirement), 9211, 9217 (retired May 2008). Buses 9213, 9219, 9222, 9223, 9225 were presumably retired between March-May 2009 as they weren't on the rosters after then. No retirements occurred between May and November. Buses 9201, 9204-9207, 9209, 9212, 9214, 9220, 9221, 9224, 9226 were the next batch of retirements, taking place November and December 2009. That leaves 9208, 9210, 9215, 9216, 9218, 9227. Buses 9210 and 9218 were both retired in January 2010, leaving 9208, 9215, 9216, and 9227 which all retired on March 31, 2010.
  18. The only CFL bulbs we have are in the basement and living room. I actually quite like the colour (it's greenish blue) but I personally would not put it in my room. The ones in the living room are similar to what you'd get out of an incandescent. We still use incandescent light bulbs everywhere else. I like the colour. They may produce heat but that's actually an advantage because my room gets so cold in the winter anyway (no space heater, the only heat source is a vent on the floor right underneath my window). I may actually consider upgrading to 2700K LEDs to save money. However, I need to find a way to compensate for the heat loss. I may simply go for warm tinted CFLs instead since they produce heat as well but use less energy. As for TVs, we kept a old Toshiba CRT in the living room until early 2012 or so. That broke and we replaced it with a huge 50 inch projection TV from the late 90s. We kept that until mid 2014 when we went to a 40 inch HDTV from around 2010 or so. Eventually in 2015, the TV broke on us and we had to go buy a new 1080p 50 inch TV. We kept that until 2018 when that broke and we finally upgraded to state of the art technology (the latest 55 inch curved Samsung 4K TV produced at the time). The TV's still going. I did have two TVs in my room. I had the rear projection TV mentioned earlier moved into my room in mid 2014 when we got the new TV and got rid of it in mid 2016 to make room for a desk. My brother's room had a CRT (used to be in my room from 2012-2014) that eventually started dying. There was a huge green spot on the top left. The TV randomly started smoking at one point (my five year old brother was in the room at the time) so my dad had to go into the room as quickly as possible, unplug it, push it down the stairs, and quickly dispose of it. From that point, it was in our backyard until we threw it out. So we've had flatscreen TVs only last for a few years. The CRTs did last longer but they did eventually break with the exception of the rear projection TV which had nothing wrong with it.
  19. 6351-6357 all have white interior doors, although I don't really know why they are the oddballs considering all the S50 D60LFs had black doors as well as everything from 6358-6403 and 6404-6709. 4609 also has them disabled.
  20. The original livery had a good run but it was time for a refresh. The rear end especially needed an updated paint job. TTC will still have old livery buses for the next few years, but all that's left are 7900s and 8000s and older LFSs, not counting the various 1500-1800 NG hybrids left unrepainted (those are retiring). The artics are getting rebuilt right now, the rest of the 1200s will likely be painted after this batch of OGs are done (may take another year or so for the 1200s to get complete), and the 8400s/8500s may not begin until 2020-2021.
  21. So you think that a person having a seizure in the middle of an airport (and passing away from it) at just 21 years of age is funny? I see nothing funny about that. Please do us a favour: grow up and get some decency.
  22. I'm assuming the padding is the same as well?
  23. 1146 tracking at Hillcrest right now. And then there were three... (1147-1149)
  24. I'm pretty sure you were on the old CPTDB back in 1997-2004. It's still partially accessible but only with web archive. Here's a link to the post (I'm assuming it was you) back in November 2000. http://web.archive.org/web/20010213225245/http://www.x-pointcgi.com/cgi-bin/users/7586/wwwboard/messages/5202.html Unrelated, but there's also a reply to the post above by user Huz6685 (Bob Hussey) that contains a list of all buses that were repainted in the new maple leaf livery by September 2000 if anyone's interested.
  25. I noticed that 1103, 1122, 1124 are all tracking back at Mount Dennis and I suspect they are in the new livery. Someone else can officially confirm.
