Not sure where to post this, but it looks like 6366 has been retrofitted with LEDs (rode it recently). Not sure if it was like that since the refurbishment or if it recently got them. 6366: 6381 for comparison: -

It would be nice if we could see how crowded the upcoming trip is! My understanding is that it is not supported in Ottawa however (but STO does have it). -

OC Transpo/STO Fan replied to The Big H 2014's topic in FORUM CHAT
Agree 100% with @TechSpotlight. I do not see why they are making this out to be an issue when it wasn't even directed at anyone. To be honest, it just comes across as being too sensitive and immature with the way Opal chose to go about it. It'll only make it more likely that the admins will gradually become more annoyed and they might choose to give them the boot instead..... Swearing and directing it at a specific person (i.e. being disrespectful)? Not acceptable. Swearing but not directing it at anyone though? Sure, but be careful with it obviously. I do understand where captaintrolley is coming from when they say it has no place here, but I do think we can allow it as long as it's not directed to someone and kept to a minimum. Asking for an apology and two weeks suspension applied to someone else just because they swore is downright laughable. -

You do realize that 8552 is an anomaly for the 6 year Nova rebuilds? It was out of service from late 2020-early 2023, that's why it's being rebuilt with the last few 87s and 92s instead -
Some new photos on busdrawings.com were recently uploaded! All photos were taken by Luke Olszewski. 9142 seen at Hurdman on July 21, 2005. At the time, it was one of the last three stripe livery Orion Vs in service after 9137 and 9144 were already taken out of service. 9321's in pretty rough shape (on 50 Downtown/Centre-ville), also at Hurdman on July 21, 2005. This was also shortly before it got rebuilt and repainted into the maple leaf livery. 8545 and 8547 at St. Laurent on July 21, 2005 shortly before being sold to STO (8545 to join the fleet and 8547 for parts). 8408, 8413, 8417 were all seen still on property as well. All three were sold to STO, with 8408 and 8417 used for parts. 9258 seen at Mackenzie King Station on 68 Downtown/Centre-ville on July 21, 2005.

That's correct, there were 227 of them. 6001-6100 (100), 6102-6178 (77), 6301-6350 (50) -
Another picture of 9201 with Luminator signs has been found! Here it is on 111 Baseline at Elmvale Shopping Centre on Sept 27, 1995 (photo by Paul Bateson): This photo confirms that 9201's digital signs predate the removal of A/C in 1996 across the fleet (therefore the only bus to have A/C and digital signs).

Here are some interesting photos I found! Here's 8550 at St. Laurent station beginning a 14 Iris on May 5, 1998, photo by Paul Bateson: The interesting thing about this bus is that it had already received black bumpers. The bus also looks like it got recent body work at the time (CLASSIC badge is gone, paint looks fresh, black bumpers). I know a bunch of other GM/MCIs got the black bumpers as well in the very early 2000s (8543, 8775, 8778, 8926, 8945, etc). I always preferred black bumpers on the old livery. This one's a bit newer but it's also historic in a way. 8914 at Hurdman displaying "176 West" on July 11, 2006 in pretty sad shape. Photo by Luke Olszewski: This one's interesting because it's the last bus in service I know of that retained a full set of white bumpers. Lastly, here's 6691 after being driven to Mike Iveson's house on his birthday on April 20, 1985. Photo posted by Colin Churcher on Flickr:

Miscellaneous TTC Discussion & Questions
OC Transpo/STO Fan replied to Orion V's topic in Greater Toronto Area
7924 had that modification done as a test bus before the 8000s came. It was identifiable because it had a 8000 style tail pipe and the passenger side panel beside the last rear window was changed out for the one on the 8000s. I'm not sure if it's still in service like that today or if they reverted to the old 7900 exhaust setup on it. -

That is correct, if they live outside of the school's attendance boundary, they are responsible for their own transportation. The passes also run from Sept-June. They also don't receive a Presto pass even if they are in the attendance boundary of the school in cases where they live 1.6km away or closer in grade 1-8 or 3.2km away or closer in grade 9-12.

If 9201 was the test bus from 1994, it's also noteworthy in that it was the only bus to briefly have Luminator signs AND still have air conditioning (at least until 1996), the others got the digital signs well after their A/C got disabled. From online photos so far, it seems like most of the early Orion Vs got their signs retrofitted in 1998-1999, so looks like 9201 was the pilot bus. I did find one post on the old CPTDB from 2003 saying that the early Orion Vs started being retrofitted with digital signs in 1995, but until I find more evidence of that, it seems like they were definitely retrofitted starting in 1998. ----- This is unrelated, but this might be interesting, so I'm posting it here. Speaking of A/C, I found a post from June 2003 (from octranspobusfreak) saying that one 1993 Classic still had A/C working (possibly 9322). I also found another post from 2003 saying OC had a meeting in 1998 and people brought up the issue of no A/C on buses. In response, they did a trial where they re-enabled the A/C on 9111-9116. From what I gather, the A/C performance wasn't good on the buses except 9113. According to this trial, they said that the cost to reconnect A/C would have been too high and so they didn't continue with the project. So they did consider it and test it out, but ultimately didn't go through with it. I also saw an OC Transpo specification sheet of buses listing rear door type, engine, transmission, etc and for 9111-9119 they put a note saying they still had Carrier A/C (while not listing it for the rest of the 91xx Classics), suggesting that they kept it after the trial. As for that 1993 Classic, it's possible that it fell through the cracks or just was one of the very few buses to have it re-enabled for whatever reason. link to 9322 a/c post: https://web.archive.org/web/20030905012254fw_/http://users6.cgiforme.com/cptdb2/messages/13439.html link to OC bus meeting post: https://web.archive.org/web/20030926194402fw_/http://users6.cgiforme.com/cptdb2/messages/10252.html

TTC Orion VII Retirement Tracker
OC Transpo/STO Fan replied to Mar_AC_23's topic in Sightings for Greater Toronto Area
One additional point: ....why exactly would TTC focus on retiring the ISL OGs before the less reliable hybrids (especially the NGs)? That doesn't seem logical to me considering the ISLs are less problematic. -
All 91/92 Orion Vs were repainted into leaf except for 9137, 9142, 9144, 9145, and 9147. Those five were the first rebuilt and it was before they introduced the new livery at council in September 1999. All the others were rebuilt after that period so those got the leaf. 9201 is interesting because it was retrofitted to have Balios signs later on, meaning 9201 was a test bus for Luminator signs. There's actually a chance it could have had Luminator signs as far back as 1994 (they said only one bus had digital signs, but never said explicitly which bus) according to an old Google Groups posting from the mid 90s. All 1991-1992 Orion Vs also had Luminator signs installed shortly before rebuild (around 1998).
