That's weird, I looked back through the previous pages and I didn't find this photo on here unless I somehow missed it.

Here's an interesting photo by Bob Hussey. 9011 is at Mackenzie King Bridge doing a route 85 Bayshore sometime between August and November 2000. An interesting fact about this bus is that it was just freshly repainted into the new maple leaf livery at the time of this photo (was repainted by August 2000 and was the first D40 repainted), even before any of the 90xx D40s got Luminator signs. According to @Michel, this was actually one of the first 90xx D40s to get the new signs in November 2000.

2019 OC Transpo Nova LFS Order
OC Transpo/STO Fan replied to Enviro_1203's topic in National Capital Region
True.... I totally take back what I said. On second thought, I see why it's more beneficial to put Inveros on there instead now that I read your post. I agree that don't necessarily need top of the line buses for the R1 service, so any old bus will do. I guess it would have been better to put all new LFSs in service and reserve 20 Inveros for R1. -
2019 OC Transpo Nova LFS Order
OC Transpo/STO Fan replied to Enviro_1203's topic in National Capital Region
(This argument may not be valid but it's my opinion) To be honest with you, I think it's actually better for OC to dedicate brand new buses for R1 service. The Inveros right now are 12-15 years old and are worn down. As a vehicle gets older, it's less likely to be reliable. If OC were to dedicate 20 Inveros to that service, they'd likely be gone in a few years and we would have had to get other buses in their place anyway. If they were to be rebuilt, than yes, they'd have less problems, but they're still going in a few years. I think it's better to have them put all the revived Inveros onto routes that actually need them right now instead of waiting for new buses and then dedicating 20 Inveros to R1. If 20 Novas are being dedicated to the R1 service instead, they are more reliable and can withstand more use. These are likely staying for at least 15 years. By putting 20 Novas on this service, we already have new buses so that we don't have to replace them in at least 15 years. If we were to put Inveros instead, they'd probably be replaced in the next few years anyway. -
GM Classic or GM New Look?

Didn't the new VII officially get EPA 2007 engines as well? (despite the last few orders of the original VII in 2007 being supposedly EPA 2007 compliant) For example, TTC's 2007 VIIs and their 2009 VII diesels are identical in every way except for a new mechanical fan on the 2009s instead of hydraulic as well as a six speed transmission instead of five speed. I also heard that the 8000s have a different style of DPF system (aka they don't regenerate on their own, the system is basically an add on passive system, and must be replaced once a year) but they're still EPA 2007s. However, pretty much everything between the OG and the NG is interchangeable. In terms of D60LFs and D60LFRs, I also found out that there's also another model called the D60LFA (the BRT styled version of the LF) and it really doesn't look good at all. I much prefer the D60LF or D60LFR. I'm surprised my friend actually thought that the "R" meant redesigned. If my friend and I were arguing over if a GM Classic was either literally a facelifted or a redesigned Fishbowl instead, he might have had a chance at being right considering they're different models and not two variations of the same model. (They do have the same internals but different body style, bottom half of the buses almost exactly the same, but the Classic was made by literally grafting a tubular structure onto the bottom half of a Fishbowl) Personally, I tend to like the first models of buses better (OG VII over NG, D60LF over D60LFR) unless we're talking Classics and Fishbowls (but doesn't really count because they are separate models). In that case, I like the Classics better even though they're slightly slower.

Is it really correct to say that the D60LFR is a redesign of the old D60LF or is it literally just a facelift? I was having this discussion with my friend today and we were arguing over whether the D60LFR was a redesign or a simple facelift of the D60LF. I said that because they're mechanically identical to the regular LF models and much of the bodywork remains identical, it doesn't make sense to call them a total redesign over the previous model. We have D60LFs and D60LFRs in our fleet and they're almost identical save for the new EPA 2010 ISL engine and 10 fan cooling system in the D60LFRs instead of the EPA 2007 ISL system and single hydraulic fan in our D60LFs. The rest of the differences are in the interior.

Misc. OC Transpo & STO Questions & Discussion
OC Transpo/STO Fan replied to SMS's topic in National Capital Region
It was because the ramps were faulty in the second gen 2002-2009 LFSs. It wasn't until the third gens (0911 and up) where they moved the ramp to the front and improved the reliability. -
When I checked Transsee, it showed that 1139 was in service, but when I refreshed it a few minutes later, it was suddenly at Hillcrest. It was a recent move. I have a feeling they'll be completed (or nearly all completed) by the first half of December. It will be interesting to see if any OG hybrids retain the old livery into 2020.

As of now, 1103, 1111, 1119, 1122-1124, 1138, 1139 are all also tracking at Hillcrest. Some have already been mentioned. We're coming to the end. A total of 18 are still marked as being the older livery and nine of them are being repainted right now. That means there are only nine buses (1141-1149) still in the old livery and in service right now. Edit: 1144 was briefly at Hillcrest. It was not repainted. Also changed post to be more accurate.

Town Hall discussion on how to improve Ottawa section
OC Transpo/STO Fan replied to SMS's topic in National Capital Region
I second a sighting subforum! Maybe transfer the threads about Invero rebuilds, Invero retirements, D60LF rebuilds, my Classic retirement thread, Nova deliveries, double decker bus deliveries, and the STO sightings thread all into one dedicated subforum so that we can easily access them. The current forum can be relegated to informative threads such as the GOA thread, the misc. question thread, etc. Doing that would make it more organized. I mostly go to the Ottawa section for those threads anyway. -
Sorry for bringing this post back, but have the display monitors on 8001-8075 and 8101-8143 all been relocated? I have marked on the wiki that 8144-8160 have changed monitor placements compared to the older DDs but that point may be moot now that I hear about the older DDs having the position changed as well.

Wasn't STM 12-099 the first NovaBus Classic produced? I recall 12-001 to 12-101 being built by MCI except for that one-off bus. Our 1993 NovaBus Classics were also the first batch to be completed by Nova.

GOA transit news, info etc

I wonder why they were retired in the first place if they're being brought back... They should have postponed Invero retirements until the new Nova order comes in. -
Update: My father emailed my counsellor the other day and asked her NOT to switch me into college level English. She apparently called back this morning (don't know why she did that instead of emailing) and said that there's a very high chance that I won't pass based on my time in the course so far. She's obviously trying very hard to convince my dad to switch me considering she was at the parent-teacher meeting with my English teacher. We basically told her (politely of course) that we were not changing our decision and that was the end of it. A week was obviously not enough time to prove some understanding in my class. I got a 75 in grade 11 university English as well so I should be prepared to do well in grade 12 English.
