Yup, that’s an engine.

If it’s thrown a rod and the block or crank are spoiled, it’s not rebuildable - therefore worthless.

I never got a chance to get a shot of the interior of 773 but I hope it's not the same thing. The d40lfs were what I grew up with and I hate to see them leave

Would anybody happen to know the numbers of the two Ram Promaster/Creative Carriage CS-2 buses used on Para-Bus? Would they be 808 and 809? And what do the numbers 1729-8810 mean on the rear door of the Promasters?

I'm not sure, as I don't pay enough attention but I'll keep a look out.

Also while I'm here, there's now a NBT fanpage for photos of NBT vehicles at: https://m.facebook.com/nbtfanpage

Is it possible to fit a new engine in that bus to give it a second life or is it better to just scrap it?

Those buses don't look to be in the best shape. Engine swap is possible but I doubt that will happen with these. They'll end up getting sold through the city and who knows where they'll end up.

Those busses have been North Bay PW (Public Works) boneyard since last spring so they'd probably need a miracle to be functional again

Ladies and gentlemen after being out of service for over a month, North Bay Transit #791 (Orion VII) is back in service. I wasn't able to get a front end shot but I'll try my best.

I promise this is my last question, what is the rear destination sign (digital number sign) used for and why is it becoming such a necessity for transit companies to have them?

Can’t tell you how many times that rear route number sign allowed me to catch my bus when trying to get to school or work.

So I have gotten info that two d40lfs are slated for retirement this winter. If not this winter it will happen in the spring, most likely untis are 774 and 775. If I'm right again the will be replaced by two 2020 Nova LFS. But I really don't think it's necessary all the vehicles have been working fine EVEN THE ORION anyone else have thoughts?

The new buses would look like this:

Most Transit agencies do a 12-year replacement for their buses. If they have two buses showing up as you say, then they would be replacing whatever is older or has major repairs that are not worth it.

North Bay Transit now has this new "feature" called dynamic dispatching happening from 5pm to 11pm on weekdays and 8-11 on saturday and 8-7 on sunday. I think this could be a success but only after covid since everything is pretty much closed.

We also got 2 new routes 8A Marshall and 8B Junction. Mind you line 4 Junction is still the same as well as line 2 marshall park. These lines are basically extended to more parts of the Ferris area. Line 4 was extended to go down to the new casino (that still hasn't opened) and yeah that's pretty much all that's new!

Also, the Orion hasn't had any issues for the past few months so hopefully it's retirement doesn't come before our d40 fleet.

A source recently provided me this article, showing a D40LF numbered 771 in the article being used for fire training purposes.

https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.nugget.ca/news/local-news/old-buses-serve-as-firefighter-training-tools/wcm/76d42606-9db9-4776-b8df-bd236235956d/amp/

The article is dated May of 2019, so that must have been around the time it retired.

I will get to updating the wiki tomorrow morning.

Dynamic Dispatch will be interesting. It's operated by VIA, who also runs the system in the Sault. I don't know how well it will work in conjunction with the fixed routes.

I have been informed that D40LF 774 has been retired and is sitting in the bone yard with plates removed. 772 and 773 are no longer there.

It's been a while, but 774 is still in the bone yard almost a year later.

Yeah the same happened with 772 and 773 when they were in the boneyard. Also, 775 had been out of service for a while now I'm really hoping it won't be retired

North Bay Transit 795, a NovaBus LFS, was delivered last week. It has a VIN of 2NVYL82J1P3753913, built March 2022. It does have the new driver's window which is the first NBT bus to have this feature.

Thanks for the update; do we know how many are on order? Is this just a single unit (to replace 770) or are there more coming?

It's only one unit and it's replacing either 776 or 777. 770 will survive for a while, as will 791.
