jeff
Not unless they decide to place a larger order for suburban coaches in the next couple of years. The reason that this order was for Orions is that it was too small of an order for it to be worth it to stock parts for a new kind of bus. I wonder how much commonality the LFS suburban has with the transit version. I would've expected them to be fairly similar. Isn't the suburban just without a rear door? Or is the floor raised too? Board Admin A. Wong Posted March 17, 2008 Board Admin Report Share Posted March 17, 2008 They are just without a rear door, usually with luggage racks and highback seating. The floor is the same.
MCW Metrobus
Bear in mind also that the tender for the 9 new highway coaches went out long before anyone could have dreamed that there would be 126 Novas running around by the time the coaches arrived. The alternative consideration at the time was actually the MCI D4500.

2044
I can't tell, is that the gear shifter to the left of the door handle? Yep that's it. Also iteresting that there is no centre rear seat like the older batch. Could this be a result of making the Orion V comply with the new EPA standards? This could also why they were delivered later. Oh I didn't meen for it to be said as a change, but was curious since these buses don't have the same engine as the older batch. If these new ones indeed have the Cummins ISM engine, there should be five seats at the back. Thats why I was wondering if the engine compartment was changed to meet the new EPA regulations. Looking at the photos on the exterior, they have the Series 50 vents around the exhaust area, particlarly the driver side, could this be the big engine reserved much like Niagara Orion VII? Don't know till it kicks in on the road.

Don't know till it kicks in on the road. the extra vents around the muffler (note the grille at the top) are more for dissapating the heat that the proprietary Cummins diesel particulate filter generates when the afterburner is active. the stack itself and the area around it seems to have been modified to handle the extreme heat also. this bus appears to have its exhaust system arranged the same way as an orion 7. orion 5s until recently have had their muffler placed in the engine compartment itself, at the bottom of the stack. that's assuming that it's cummins (ISl/ISM?)equipped. Orion9131
G Transit could definitely use a few more Orion V suburbans. As much as I like the D4500s, I GO could get by with using a more conventional bus.
