- September 6, 2015 - Route begins operation as part of an expansion of the Blue Night Network. The route replaces 303 Don Mills service on Broadview Avenue and 313 Jane service on Roncesvalles Avenue.
- January 6, 2019 - Route made accessible using low-floor Bombardier Flexity streetcars.
- January 3, 2021 - Route partially operated by buses due to construction at King-Queen-Queensway-Roncesvalles intersection. Streetcars continue to operate on the section between Broadview Station and Dufferin Gate Loop. Buses using the 304C branch designation will operate between Shaw Street and Dundas West Station.
- April 5, 2021 - During Phase 1 of the KQQR construction, 304C bus service is split into two separate branches: 304G operating between Dundas West Station and Roncesvalles Yard (Queen Street West), and 304Q operating between Triller Avenue/Queen Street West and Princes' Gate Loop via Strachan Avenue. 304 streetcar service will operate between Broadview Station and Dufferin Gates Loop.
- June 20, 2021 - Branch 304Q (Princes' Gate Loop-Triller) bus service and all streetcar service is removed and replaced with full 304 replacement bus service between Broadview Station and Triller Avenue. 304G buses continue to operate between Dundas West Station and Queen Street West.
- November 14, 2021 - With Phase 2 of the KQQR construction, bus branches 304 and 304G are combined into a single 304 branch operating between Dundas West Station and Broadview Station. Eastbound service diverts via Triller Avenue and westbound service diverts via Dufferin Street and Queen Street West.
- July 31, 2022 to October 7, 2022 - With track repairs at the intersection of King Street East and Sumach Street, replacement bus service will divert both ways via Parliament Street and Queen Street East.
- September 4, 2022 - Due to watermain and track work at the King/Shaw intersection, replacement bus service will divert through Liberty Village. In addition, service will divert via Howard Park Avenue, Parkside Drive, Lake Shore Boulevard, Colborne Lodge Drive, and The Queensway due to reconstruction of track and transit stops along Roncesvalles Avenue.
- December 9, 2022 - With the completion of construction at the King/Shaw intersection, bus service no longer diverts through Liberty Village.
- March 14, 2023 - Construction on Roncesvalles Avenue is complete and replacement bus service now operates along Roncesvalles Avenue to Dundas West Station. Service no longer diverts via Parkside Drive.
- June 18, 2023 - Due to lane-width limitations caused by continued track construction on Broadview Avenue, replacement night bus service will temporarily divert to Pape Station via Carlaw Avenue, Riverdale Avenue, and Pape Avenue.
- January 7, 2024 - With the reopening of the Broadview Station bus terminal, replacement buses now terminate at Broadview Station and no longer divert to Castle Frank Station.
- February 18, 2024 - Full streetcar operation is restored between Dundas West Station and Broadview Station. Due to track work and watermain construction requiring the closure of King Street West between Dufferin Street and Shaw Street, streetcars will temporarily divert both ways via Queen Street West and Shaw Street.
