Route Details

The current routing of route 60.

This route services Steeles Avenue West between Yonge Street and Highway 27. It also services Yonge Street between Finch Avenue and Steeles Avenue. There is one eastern terminal, which is Finch Station. Western terminals include Pioneer Village Station for 60A, Martin Grove Road for 60B, and Highway 27 for 60D. Branch 60B only operates during the evenings every day of the week. Branch 60D only operates during the early morning on Saturdays.

History

Orion VII #7900 on route 60.
Orion VI #9239 on route 60.
  • September 7, 2004 - New weekday midday and Saturday daytime service is introduced on branch 60D to Highway 27.
  • August 31, 2008 - Bike rack service is added to route 60.
  • November 23, 2008 - Full operation moved to Arrow Rd Division. Branch 60 to Islington Loop is eliminated with all service extended to Martin Grove Loop. Service east of Martin Grove Road now operates whenever the subway is open.
  • October 19, 2009 - Peak-period express branch 60E to Highway 27 is changed to terminate at Kipling Loop.
  • January 5, 2015 - Peak-period express branch 60E to Kipling is eliminated. Service is reallocated to operate on the local branch 60D to Highway 27.
  • October 11, 2015 - Route is added to the Ten Minute Network. Combined service east of Keele Street will operate at intervals of ten minutes or better whenever the subway is open.
  • December 17, 2017 - With the opening of the new Line 1 extension, all buses in both directions operate to or through Pioneer Village Station. Local branch 60C and peak-period express branch 60F to York University are redesignated 60A and and 60E, respectively. Both branches are changed to terminate at Pioneer Village Station. Service will operate at intervals of ten minutes or better between Finch Station and Pioneer Village Station.
  • September 2, 2018 - With the introduction of TTC's Express Network, peak-period express branch 60E to Pioneer Village Station is renamed to 960 Steeles West Express SmallAccessible.gif.
  • March 28, 2021 - This route was transferred to Wilson upon the opening of the brand new McNicoll Division.
  • September 7, 2021 - Service during the weekday peak periods, midday, and early evening on branches 60B and 60D is replaced with new service on route 960 Steeles West Express in order to provide a more convenient and transfer-free trip for customers along the Steeles West corridor. Local service on Steeles Avenue West between Finch Station and Pioneer Village Station will continue to be operated by branch 60A.
  • October 10, 2021 - Service on route 960 Steeles West Express is further expanded to operate during the daytime on weekends. Branch 60B will operate during the evening periods every day of the week and branch 60D will operate during the early morning on Saturdays.
  • November 21, 2021 - New weekday peak-period and midday only service introduced on branch 60C operating between Pioneer Village Station and Kipling Avenue.
  • September 4, 2022 - Branch 60C service is limited to weekday peak-period only.
  • March 26, 2023 - Branch 60C is suspended until further notice.
  • May 7, 2023 - Branch 60C to Kipling is permanently discontinued.

Overnight Service

Overnight service is provided by 353 Steeles SmallAccessible.gif on Steeles Avenue West between York University and Yonge Street. The rest of the route does not have overnight service, however, the route operates until 2:00 AM every day.
