Route Details

This route services Military Trail south of Ellesmere Road and Lawson Road. It also provides service on Ellesmere Road between McCowan Road and Military Trail, and Port Union Road between Lawson Road and Lawrence Avenue East. There is one western terminal, which is Kennedy Station. Eastern terminals include Rouge Hill GO Station for 38A and U of T Scarborough for 38B. Branch 38B only operates in the reverse peak-direction during rush hours as peak-direction service is provided by route 938 Highland Creek Express.

History
- September 3, 2000 - Route 38 begins service. The route was introduced to replace part of route 95, and to provide a connection between Scarborough Centre Station and the University of Toronto Scarborough Campus.
- June 20, 2004 - Route 38 is made accessible with lift-equipped bus service.
- October 16, 2005 - Daytime and early evening Sunday/holiday service is added.
- November 23, 2008 - Branch 38A to U of T Scarborough begins operation to provide additional service to U of T Scarborough.
- June 22, 2014 - Branch 38A has been changed to 38B due to a system-wide reorganization of route branch designations.
- May 10, 2015 - Branch 38 has been changed to 38A due to a system-wide reorganization of route branch designations.
- September 7, 2021 - With the introduction of the new 938 Highland Creek Express route providing peak-period directional service between Scarborough Centre Station and the U of T Scarborough Campus, branch 38B is changed to operate in the reverse peak-direction only.
- November 19, 2023 - Route is extended further south to serve as an express bus from Scarborough Centre RT Station to Kennedy Station as part of the Line 3 Bus Replacement Plan.
Overnight Service
Overnight service is provided by 334 Eglinton East on Ellesmere Road between Neilson Road and Morningside Avenue, and by 395 York Mills on Ellesmere Road between McCowan Road and Military Trail including the U of T Scarborough Campus. The entire portion of the express service routing is provided by 343 Kennedy between Kennedy Station and Ellesmere Road and between Kennedy Rd and Brimley Rd along Ellesmere Rd by the 395 York Mills . The rest of the route does not have overnight service, however, this route operates until 1:00 AM every day.

Express service between Kennedy Station and U of T Scarborough is provided by 938 Highland Creek Express during rush hours only.
