Toronto Transit Commission 4625-4674 were 1946 Pullman Standard PCC A-11 class all-electric streetcars, built new the Cleveland Transit System (Cleveland, Ohio). They differ from the TTC's other PCC cars in that they feature very distinct roof ventilators that run the entire length of the car roof.
All were built new for the Cleveland Transit System and delivered in 1946. The TTC purchased Cleveland's entire fleet of PCC cars in 1952 (including a group of secondhand ex-Louisville cars that became the TTC A-12 class), and the 4200-4249 series continued to operate in service until 1952-1953 when they were shipped by railway flatcar to the TTC's Hillcrest Shops. There they were modified for service in Toronto, repainted, and assigned new numbers.
Nine of the TTC A-11 cars were sold back to the Greater Cleveland Regional Transit Authority in 1978, for their Shaker Heights Rapid Transit (SHRT) interurban rail line operation. The cars only ran for a few years, and kept their old TTC numbers and paint while in service.
By 1982 most of the fleet was retired. Car 4633 was donated to the Halton County Radial Railway in 1982, but eventually stripped for parts and scrapped in 1996. Cars 4631 and 4668 were converted for railgrinder service in 1974-75, which included repainting yellow and renumbering as W-30 & W-31 for use as a married pair on the streetcar network. They were retired, and donated to the HCRY in 2002.
