Toronto Transit Commission 8335-8396 are Orion 07.501 EPA10 buses built between 2011 and 2012. Early Service Summaries had these buses numbered 8400-8459. This batch is an option from the contract for 1700-1829 exercised in October 2009 for 60 buses to be delivered in 2012 totaling $32,506,167.60. They are the last order of Orion buses by the TTC due to Orion going out of business.

History

Order

These buses were deemed necessary to maintain service levels as outlined in the Bus Fleet plan (published in 2009) and other reviews and discussions.[1] The last two buses were added to the 60 bus order as compensation for two prematurely retired buses covered by insurance.

Modifications

These buses are exactly like the previous batch with traditionally glazed windows, 2+1 seating before the rear door, and grey and red interior colour scheme. The buses feature bike racks, automated announcements, CCTV cameras and driver barriers.

In Summer 2016, 8336 was selected as one of prototype buses to be equipped with the new Computer-Aided Dispatch and Automatic Vehicle Location (CAD/AVL) Vehicle Information System and Integrated Operations Network (VISION) system. This bus is removed from service until Summer 2018, when buses equipped with vision system are starting to deployed. The rest of this series started to have VISION installed in November 2018. The entire series was equipped with VISION by April 2019.

Deliveries History

All 62 buses (8335-8396) were delivered to Wilson division.

Movement History

In July 2024, 8335-8340 were transferred to Queensway. In August 2024, 8341-8354 were also transferred to Queensway. In September 2024, 8355-8358 were transferred to Queensway. From January 2025 to March 2025, 8359-8368 were transferred to Queensway.
