D40-90 Posted June 19, 2007 Report Posted June 19, 2007 What is the TTC cammander buses used for? How many of them does the TTC have. I know that one or two is based at Arrow garage, But does every bus garage have them? And I saw a Prevost bus that has a new Livery. Will TTC use that as a new livery on all buses? Thanks!!

There is only one TTC Command bus. It is not based out of any garage, I believe that it is typically stored at Hillcrest. It is used as a command centre during emergencies.

D40-90 Posted June 19, 2007 Author Report Posted June 19, 2007 Thanks. I guess i said Arrow because of the Arrow bus rodeo.
Articulated Posted June 19, 2007 Report Posted June 19, 2007 The bus can also be used during special events, IIRC it was out during World Youth Day.
TTCNLFBT Posted June 19, 2007 Report Posted June 19, 2007 'TTC1' was used on April 23 subway accident at Lawrence Stn.
wil9402 Posted June 19, 2007 Report Posted June 19, 2007 I know that the new Command Unit is numbered as TTC1 but what was the old one numbered? I can't seem to find the picture I saw of it before on the internet.

wil9402 Posted June 22, 2007 Report Posted June 22, 2007 It was 572. Alright, thanks. BTW, what happened to it, is it still on TTC property or has it been scarped?
leylandvictory2 Posted June 22, 2007 Report Posted June 22, 2007 Alright, thanks. BTW, what happened to it, is it still on TTC property or has it been scarped? i believe somebody turned it into a motor home.

I think TTC could use these buses for premium routes,14X. based out of Danforth. This won't happen. But it sounds like a good idea.lol. I dream to much

a.dicion Posted July 24, 2007 Report Posted July 24, 2007 does the TTC not have an emergency command centre inside a building? or does everyone move into the bus every time something happens. excuse me, but that sounds.... very silly Yes the TTC has a central command centre, and no the TTC doesn't move everyone into the command bus every time something happens. They have designated personnel which are assigned to the bus should they need to use the command bus.

Orion VIII Posted July 24, 2007 Report Posted July 24, 2007 but when would they, like what circumstances would cause the bus to be used? When they need to have lots of people doing work at a specific location away from Hillcrest, like a subway shutdown or fire, I suppose.
wil9402 Posted July 24, 2007 Report Posted July 24, 2007 but when would they, like what circumstances would cause the bus to be used? An example of when it would be used would be in April the day that the subway was closed between Eglinton and York Mills because of the maintenance subway car accident, the current Command Unit was used. Another example would be World Youth Day, the old command unit was used during World Youth Day IIRC.
Archer Posted July 24, 2007 Report Posted July 24, 2007 why cant they do those things from hillcrest Because it's easier for the people in charge of co-ordinating during the emergency to do their job if they're on-site? Not to mention, being able to make decisions while seeing what exactly is going on is a plus, when compared to having to rely on information being relayed to you, which may not be 100% complete...

I guess that makes sence
TTCT15119 Posted July 24, 2007 Report Posted July 24, 2007 they should get these to go across canada or as an express only in ontario but it would bassicly take the hole purpose of the viva and the GO out
Bus_Medic Posted July 27, 2007 Report Posted July 27, 2007 i believe somebody turned it into a motor home.that somebody is a driver instructor with the ttc, went to the auction. It is based out of Hillcrest but for events you can see it at any garage like Arrow for the rodeounless it is at hillcrest for maintenance, it is typically stored indoors at lakeshore division.
Stops At Posted October 5, 2007 Report Posted October 5, 2007 I Have found the Old one. TTC Command Unit #572, is an ex-Greyhound Canada MC-8.
