Queensway won't be getting EV chargers anytime soon.

Now that TTC will focus on Greenwood yard for new trains, they can probably give Kipling more of a priority on being the next new bus garage. I know they wanted a more central location in the Portland's. And Diane saxe was looking at a property, I believe near Mount pleasant and St Clair. Or somewhere in that area. But I highly doubt anything will come from that.

It makes sense to leave Queensway alone till Kipling replaces it.

I think it’s the best to convert Queensway to a wheel transit garage with Kipling replacing it. Maybe they could used Lakeshore as a partial standard bus garage? They’ll save a lot of deadheading cost.

BYDs have been noticeable out and about the past week or so. Today transsee says that 8 of the 10 BYDs are running on various routes, including Lawrence East and Eglinton East. I wonder why the fleet has been pressed into service like this.

It’s doing far better that the fleet of potatoes. Only 6 of 25 units were available for service yesterday

How many of them have been grounded for good due to shortage of parts?

In general, the BYDs seem to be doing very good in terms of range. Although they were the last model of the eBus test fleet to enter service (by a wide margin), they were the first series to expand to 14 hour duties, and over the warm summer months this year in particular there are usually multiple BYDs out in service daily on longer runs (beyond just rush hours).

The main problem with the model appears to be reliability; as mentioned, once a bus breaks down it's usually gone for multiple months at a time.

If they can't get the parts, they can't fix it. BYDs are great in the summer. Winter however isn't good for all ebuses in general but the BYDs are worst than Flyers. Now we wonder how the Novas perform since TTC didn't pilot a few before going all in with 136 units. We won't likely see more BYDs in the future because of the non standard charging ports and performance gap between the seasons.

The trio were out yet again on Eglinton today.

Since ttc moved on with flyers and additionally novas does this mean that the byds and proterras will retire? Cause it doesn't make sense to retire the perfectly good 3G and NG diesels while keeping the few proterras and byds

Not a chance on the BYD's. The Proterra fleet sounds like a huge waste.

That won't pass any budget test. Can't retire a 5 year old vehicle over some 12-14 old vehicles. If you read up in the thread, the plan is to fix all the buses and get them rolling again.

I believe the Proterras are sidelined is cause the new part supplier hasn't gotten things moving smoothing since Proterra went bankrupt, not because the buses are that terrible. The Flyers and Novas have parts so they don't end up being out of commission for long periods of time.

Its a Luminator issue. HSRs 22xx and newer Novas have sign issues, Brantfords 2023 Novas also have sign issues, same with the Miway 2022-2023 XDE40s.

Sorry for asking... if I did take this off topic, but it's a genuine question.

So does that mean just Horizon signs are impacted, or Spectrum is too..? I've noticed flickering on the signs and they're very dim too. Specifically HSR's Novas are really hard to see on the outside, when I ride them. I can't really even see them, even in the dimmest light.

But wouldn't it be feasible to keep the orions since they can harvest many parts from the dead ones instead of struggling to get parts for a few proterras?

Politicians don't understand that fact. It's hard to convince non-transit enthusiast than old, dirty diesel, noisy buses are better than new, environmental friendly quiet electric buses are worse. So that's why there's a ebus program and manufactures are forced to adapt.

3715 & 3720 are at Eglinton Garage

I wonder if it is going to be an actual relocation once the construction of the charge ports is done.
