No. I've heard that the 2016-17 XN40's will be the MBTA's last CNG buses. Remember, they had the Neoplan AN460 CNG artics but elected to replace those with XDE60 hybrids when they could have easily gotten XN60's.

Kinda sad considering that they were in the CNG game for too long. Only for about 17 years by the time those XN40s came along. Wonder why they didn't order 299-300 of them like they did with the NABI 40LFW 1G CNGs.

Saw this article in my Facebook feed. To be honest, I don't know any major organization can somehow lose sensitive documents especially you would think they have a process.

The documents were to verify that the inspections were completed and the actions undertaken.

Final comments:

To be honest, I don't think MBTA has had a very good track record. Especially with how old the system is and the issues they are having. Was reading about how old some of their transit garages going back several decades.

Trying to build new facilities isn't easy needing to ensure they can handle the needs of tomorrow and not just today. Such as the new Quincy garage struggling to get off the ground along with cost overruns. Needing to figure out how to deal with a higher cost of building new transit garages or modernizing existing ones. Arborway and North Cambridge being on the list for work to ensure they can also accommodate an electric bus fleet.

There are 11 dual-modes still active at Southampton. These are primarily for the SL1 to Logan Airport since the new Xcelsiors with luggage racks haven't been delivered yet.

Smart man and part of the remaining 8 2023 XDE60s are still on order according to Wikipedia. The roofline looks very different from the 2016-19 model year XDE60s and XE60s. MBTA Silver Line will be 100% Diesel Hybrid Powered and EV later on this year.

It will be interesting to see if the 1300's make it onto the SL4 and SL5 routes from time to time, since they are essentially the same bus except for the extended-range battery option.

Think NFI changed the roofing similar to the XN60. They already doing that for the electric CHARGE versions

The MBTA is looking to retire the 2006 D40LFs (0600-0754) first, of which the majority are at Albany and Fellsway garages.  The 2007-2008 D40LFs at Quincy and Lynn (and a partial group of buses 0881-0900 at Albany) are still active and in relatively good shape as they were rebuilt in 2017-2020; they will retire those buses if they choose to execute the option for more XDE40s or begin to send the battery electric buses to Quincy.

The new order of XDE40s (3200-3359) would likely replace all of the D40LFs at Albany and Fellsway.

From what I heard, it sounded like the 2006 D40LF's will be retired sometime by next year. It is possible they might be able to squeeze out the 2008 models until the beginning of 2025 but that depends on how quick the order of new electric buses show up
