Was this a diesel bus converted to electric? Someone on YouTube said that

No, both 4000 and 4001 were delivered to GO as full battery-electric buses from the start. They were never converted from diesels.

I have heard a rumour that at least one (if not both) may have originated as prototype shells or chassis, which were assembled as part of the original setup of the SuperLo production line in Vaughan. I don't believe that's true, given the two buses have VINs indicating they were built in 2020 and from the Guildford, UK facility; but I would have to defer to someone more knowledgeable than me on the subject matter.

They have a build date of 2015. The chassis may have been constructed in 2015, set aside, and completed in 2020.

I find it difficult to believe the chassis would be purposely set aside for five whole years, especially given that it is the exact same as the other SuperLo (Am I right?).

I have my own theory: The two units, given they are supposedly prototypes may actually have probably originated from a diesel manufactured bus (the order was also way too small to warrant mass production from scratch), whether they were used or not, we may not know but it does seem like the probability of 4000 and 4001 actually starting off as diesel buses is not 0.

It would be interesting to see if someone is able to get a hold of how much KM are recorded on the speedometer, that might just solve the mystery. It is a little confusing especially after seeing a couple mixed comments on YouTube, some claim it is a conversion vehicle, others say its from scratch

Pretty sure it said 2016 on 4001 when I saw it earlier this year at the presto media event at streetsville. I always heard they were built as diesels and converted at ADL before GO took possession.

Interesting. 4000’s build plate says November 2015.

A number of YRT's 2022 artics have begun returning to service (or entering service for the first time) following extended outages:

  • 2258 - returned to service May 16 (out of service since December 30)
  • 2260 - returned to service May 18 (out of service since January 12)
  • 2261 - first day in passenger service May 19
  • 2262 - returned to service May 17 (out of service since January 11)
  • 2263 - returned to service May 19 (out of service since January 12)

Until this week, 2253, 2254, 2255, and 2259 were the only 2022 artics from BRT division that had been in service in the past 4 months.

Also of note, 2256, 2257, and 2264 have still never seen passenger service despite having been delivered in 2022.

There's basically 50 buses doing the interline right now. That's insane

3477 on 504/505 but he decided to use a not in service sign entire trip and then change it back to 504/505 as he approached Broadview Station. Make no mistake that I did report him.
