  1. I heard about that, not sure what happened either. I think it was run 502, it was just plagued with problems. I think at one point they had a C/O waiting for it downtown and the operator was told to take the LRT to downtown and he showed up like an hour later. At 1930, this run was supposed to be at WTC and it was still at the Coliseum. I also heard that Run 12703 had some problems, lost some time and had to 'cut in' somewhere. Darn rookies on that
  2. Very nice. Corgi's are a very friendly breed. The Queen has corgi's. We had a dog that was 1/4 corgi. Our dog's mother, who lived across the street, brought us one of her pups after it had been weaned.
  3. That is indeed unfortunate. There should be only one right and proper way to erect and maintain overhead (and that is to high standards with quality workmanship and quality products) and the necessary resources should be made available to those performing this function. There should be no exception.
  4. John had Unit # 192 (Thomas the Tank Trolley) this morning. It just got C/O with Unit # 754 (the race car bus).
  5. I think they still have *bug* issues with the trouncer
  6. Bit of a 10-2 at 95 Street and 118 Avenue this morning. Big delays. Probably some dieselisation in the process.
  7. OK. Let's start with what I would do as GM. I would take some lightly used excellent quality OH and special work from Innsbruck (where they are converting to electric tramway) and some very smart and good looking OH technicians / installers from Innsbruck, and bring them to Edmonton to bring our OH network up to European Standard. No more shoddy OH/special work. The Epcor trolley crew will be made to watch and take notes. I would also have a separate facility for trolley operations. Nothing elaborate, just efficient and functional. The best trolley operators and EVMs would be working out of this facility. The trolley training would be upgraded. There will be classroom, ride along, driving, more classroom, Q & A, more driving, exams. Very intense stuff. After passing this initial level of trolley training, the rookie would be paired with a trolley ambassador/mentor for a week or so (this would be done on his / her own time). After the rookie has demonstrated TSA approved skill and attitude, he/she will be awarded with a pin and certificate which would be recognized world wide. Also the Routes and Schedules would be revised so that major connections actually work, and service levels are matched up more with the demand at all time periods (ie: 15 minute service on the Route 3 during midday and 30 minutes in the evening/late nights). I would also implement a community shuttle for China Town, the Route 888 ! I would also check into the feasibilty of reconfiguring the Routes 3 & 7 to spread their time more evenly. The Route 7 would do the 124 Street, 118 Avenue, 156 Street portion and the Route 3 would go along 107 Avenue to JPC. The rest would remain the same. This would give the Route 3 more time and take up some of the 20 minute layover that the Route 7 currently experiences. I would also put up signs in the buses that read "Not Responsible For Lost Articles". (And maybe take 'BOB' down). What would you do if you were GM ?
  8. It was never funny to begin with. John says *they* are claiming it is driver error. Can you believe that ? I think it is more like crossover error. Dennis's GS tells Dennis that HE is the only person having a problem at that location. (Uh, I don't think so). EVERYONE is having a problem there. And this being the beginning of a new sign-up, there are guys doing the Route 3/120 that have no clue that there is a problem there (and 95 Street & 111 Avenue). So until these guys/gals gain awareness and drive through these trouble spots with caution, there's gonna be a lot more *FUN*. I think these problematic areas are the main reason Geoff is not signing the Route 3 lately.
  9. # 181 was on Run 507 (Kelly's old run). The heaters quit and it got C/O with Unit # 790. Kelly is on Run 505 now. Today he had Unit # 4155 (but wishing it was # 155 instead). Pally had a D40LF on Run 318. Run 12002 had Unit # 180. Around 1445 Unit # 170 working the Route 120 got hung up in the crossover at 156 Street and Stony Plain Road (like what else is new?) and Unit # 168 right behind him calling it in. This made Unit # 179 on the Route 3 about -15. Pally, just leaving the garage arrived at JPC around 1510, said it was all cleared by the time he got there.
  10. A page taken from a German Discussion Board. Some OLD artics, diesels and trolleys, from Germany around 1950's - 1960's. And at the very bottom (scroll way down) an artic from Hungary. http://drehscheibe-online.ist-im-web.de/fo....php?17,3242901 And some more (including inside) shots http://drehscheibe-online.ist-im-web.de/fo....php?17,3243977
  11. And then you're salaried, no more hourly pay ! And for Monday morning......Unit # 179 on Run 302 and Unit # 151 on Run 504 !
  12. Support Staff (basically anyone completely deskbound) are CSU 52. Management are classified as 'out-of-scope' which means they are unionless (I think). Not sure how that last one works.
  13. Close, they (the trolleys) may be a touch older. If Corey is 24 then his birth year would be 1983. Unit # 100 entered revenue service in November 1981.
  14. Buying green power / sustainable, renewable energy/ is a good option for any system utilising electric traction.
  15. Breakfast (it's a treat, I usually skip it because I have to be at work very early). Bar soap or liquid soap ?
  16. He's done the Route 3 a bit too. Yeah, good trolley driver. Barry & Geri's kid. Nice looking family. ETS's poster family. They get photographed for a lot of ETS promotional material.
  17. Yeah, it was posted in 'The Greater Edmonton Area' of Western Canada section.
  18. Yes, but a single all-call to state "Please limit your calls to emergencies only" should suffice. Maybe make it right after the time announcements during peak radio transmission times. Don't say "Don't call in unless you have an emergency or are involved in a collision" after every transmission that is received. That is very redundant. And perhaps radio communications ettiquette should be part of operator training. Sort of like "If you had to pay a quarter for this call, would you still be making it ?". I know a couple of drivers who are grumbling about the over use / misuse of the radio (from both ends of the spectrum). Especially if you have a radio that is on 'monitor' and it won't turn off, so you hear both sides all the time. One of them was involved in radio communications in a previous employment, and he says what's going on now is just wild. Sure it's everywhere, but it could be more professional at times. (Just my two cents worth)
  19. ...will one day rule heaven and earth....
  20. ...and the ink skipped and the pens all flew apart, leaving one to conclude that.....
  21. QWERTY Kodak Film paper or Fuji Film paper
  22. Yup, 8' X 10' furnished, comes with strict parents and mean dog.
  23. CNN can get a little repetitive with their stories. Like when 9/11 happened. I mean sure it was very tragic and at the same time sensational to watch, but it really got annoying after the 1000th time. Of course one could choose not to watch it, but seriously, even going into a lounge or into an electronics store....EVERY televison on earth was broadcasting this night and day for what seemed like endless days.
