MCW Metrobus
A coach fan I know may have some more info... I remember when I was preparing to tell him about what happened to Perimeter, the first question he asked me was "did Gray Line of Victoria go under or something?" So presumably they have been struggling for a while already.
Board Admin A. Wong Posted January 7, 2009 Board Admin Report Share Posted January 7, 2009 I hope the classic double decker tours in Victoria don't get axed.
BCT-3122-D800-10240
I too heard through another Greyhound operator friend of mine that Gray Line West is pretty much shutting down as well, but I don't know much more about it at this point. Board Admin A. Wong Posted January 10, 2009 Board Admin Report Share Posted January 10, 2009 Gray Line Vacations 102-EL3 #1098 in Edmonton today. Looks like they aren't totally dead at least.
airwolf
Was talking with a friend of mine (a former co-worker from my days at Gray Line Victoria) and they said that most of the place got laid-off.. A few days earlier, my mom was talking to her regular driver when she goes to Ladysmith, and he said that there's only a few people left at Gray Line in Victoria. Anybody have any more info or have heard anything else?? All I've heard is scuttlebutt so I won't mention that stuff. I did however see 461 (a 102EL3) last weekend running a regular city tour starting from out front of the Empress Hotel in Victoria last weekend and 1113 (I believe a 102DL3) in Lake Louise about two weeks before Christmas. mcooknell
Kinda sorta hope it's only the maintenance department due to the slow season... When I was there, they shut down the afternoon shift, put everybody on Monday to Friday dayshift, except for myself and my leadhand that worked dayshifts Friday to Monday... Mind you, when Armstrong Hospitality Group (Rocky Mountaineer) took over, they always said, "The buses and trains won't run and fix themselves"
canuck600
Gray West Banff has shut down so that only leaves Victoria left.

BCT-3122-D800-10240
Not sure how many units Brewster got, but they have some of the Ex-Gray Line West Setra S417's now! Saw them over a week ago when I passed through Banff with a couple of friends. Here is Ex-Gray Line West #1144 with Brewster decalling, but still in Gray Line West numbering. canuck600
Think they will look sharp if they get painted into Brewster colours.

mcooknell
Yuppers.... It's one of Daimlers.... If'n I remember correctly, it was in the "Victoria Clipper" paint scheme. Also saw 244 yesterday and noticed that the rear windows on the upper deck were removed.
Board Admin A. Wong Posted August 28, 2009 Board Admin Report Share Posted August 28, 2009 I think it was ex-1102 or 1108 with no decals. Just the base paint, blue still there. Parked with a Pinnacle coach and a Prince Albert Northern J4500.
M. Parsons
I think it was ex-1102 or 1108 with no decals. Just the base paint, blue still there. Parked with a Pinnacle coach and a Prince Albert Northern J4500. It was ex 1102. Paper in the window was for Nagel Tours, but so were the papers in the windows of PAN 158 and Pinnacle 9246. I don't think 338 has been in Victoria for too long. That coach used to be based out of Gray Line West's Banff location.
C2045
Saw 1112 (102 EL3) the other day, the new owners kept the blue and white color scheme. Wasn't a company I'd ever heard of.

airwolf
What was this company name that you have never heard of before? 1112 is now owned and operated by Glacier Coach Lines in Whistler, B.C. They also own an ex-Greyhound 102-C3. I couldn't tell you which one though.
