To recap:

The purpose of the list above is to capture ALL of the T1 cars ever in service on Sheppard. Since OPTO is coming to Line 4 Sheppard on Sun, Oct. 9, there is one more day to update this list before the T1's are relegated solely to Line 2 Bloor-Danforth for good.

In the list, the pairs in black were spotted by myself between Nov. 2002 and 22 Jul. 2016. I have a strong confidence (as in 100% convinced) that particular part of the list is correct.

The pairs in red were never seen by myself on line 4 Sheppard, but were spotted by other members of the forum since 22 July 2016.

So last chance guys: take a good hard look at the list in the previous message and reply here if you recall with certainty that you have ridden and/or spotted a pair NOT included in it either on line 4 and/or at Davisville yard (which is where the Sheppard line change-offs are handled from) at some point in the last 3 months, specifically between July 22 and present.

Thanks again.

A six car train containing 5184-5185 just left the build up southbound.

That was 5115-5114-5191-5190-5185-5184.

Spotted it deadheading NB SCW around 8:20 that night.

Spotted at least 2 4-car T1 sets at Davisville, unfortunately don't remember the #'s but I do remember 5162/5163 coupled to another pair which I believe was one of the 519X. Interestingly, I've noticed 5162/5163 has an orange LED sign installed at one of the side windows which read "Line 1 to Downsview", I'll try to get a pic next time I see it.

Edit: the set is (5163/5162)+(5108/5109).

Sorry to re-hash an old topic.

5000-5001 along with 5330-5331 was likely (although unconfirmed) on Sheppard on Friday, as I spotted it on Track 3 at Davisville in the evening.

The shocking thing is to me, is that there hasn't been a sighting that has been up there anywhere in this forum when I took a search, although I'm sure 5000-5001 have been up in the line countless times over the 14+ years.

Hopefully it's still up there or as a backup for the weekend.

Thanks for the update. Also on Friday afternoon, TR set 6171-6172-6175-6176 was parked just outside of Davisville carhouse on track 7 (even though the spare TR set is now normally stored in the tail-tracks at Sheppard-Yonge), so perhaps that explains why they had to send a T1 up there. Maybe someone can confirm if a T1 was in fact in service on Sheppard last Friday.

What I can state with certainty is that by Sunday (Jan 15) Sheppard was again TR's only, including the back-up train in the Sheppard-Yonge tail-track.

I can guarantee that pair 5000-5001 was NEVER in service on Sheppard between the time the line opened (in Nov. 2002) and July 2016. As an almost daily user of the line during all that time, I am absolutely positive about it.

All pairs in the range 5000 to 5129 had been allocated to Greenwood by January 2002, so they were essentially confined to the BD line long before the Sheppard line opened and even before testing began (which was in February 2002 IIRC).

In fact, except for pair 5106-5107 (which somehow made it onto Sheppard for a couple of weeks in February 2015), no T1 below 5130 was in service on Sheppard before May 2015. That's when the T1's were completely off of the YUS, and they began doing periodic swaps of equipment between Greenwood and Davisville to keep some T1's at Davisville readily available as change-offs for Sheppard.

I cannot say anything about the period after mid-July 2016, as I have not been on Sheppard at all until last month, so I can only go by the sightings in this forum, but pair 5000-5001 was never reported in service on Sheppard during that 3-month window between mid-July 2016 and early October 2016 when OPTO began . Otherwise I would have included in the list at the top of this page. Perhaps that's when you saw it?

Thanks for that historical reminder. Very informative actually!

For sure you would have added here it had it been up there, I was just more sure that it would have been there based on all the shifting from time to time. Then the odd special sighting out of nowhere.

Side note, I have been passing by Davisville quite often lately, have not seen those two pairs, but 5004-5005 have been sitting outside on Track 6(?) for about a week now with a few more T1's inside the carhouse, where I'm completely unable to see the unit numbers from the mainline. So I'm not sure if 5000-5001 cars are still there as backups.

They are also right now changing most T1 chimes that are low-tuned or high-pitched from what I am noticing. Only a few with almost proper-tuned chimes have been changed: ex. 5356/7

ALSO: 5370/1 might be getting them, not quite sure though.
