The Nova Bus LFS Artic is an articulated version of the Nova Bus LFS made for high ridership routes or Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) systems. There were a few prototypes built before it's formal unveiling at the 2007 CUTA TransExpo.
The Nova Bus LFS Artic is an articulated version of the Nova Bus LFS and is made for high ridership routes or Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) systems. The LFS Artic had its formal unveiling at the 2007 CUTA Trans-Expo.

The first prototype was built using the front section of a first generation LFS and the rear portion of a second generation LFS. A second, more refined prototype was built in 2005. Both prototypes had the same left side engine placement as the 40 foot LFS, however the production models have the new rear center engine placement.
History
The first prototype was built using the front section of a first generation LFS and the rear portion of a second generation Chicago Transit Authority LFS demonstration unit. A second, more refined prototype was built in 2005 and operated in service with the Réseau de transport de la Capitale (RTC) as well as the Réseau de transport de Longueuil (RTL) in 2006 and 2007, respectively. Both prototypes had the same offside engine placement as the 40 foot LFS. The next prototype was built with the newly developed third generation rear. This design places the engine at the center of the rear rather than offset.

In 2010, Connecticut Transit placed an order for a batch of hybrid LFS Artic buses, the first of this model configuration. Currently, Nova has not placed the hybrid LFS Artic as its own model like they did with the 40 foot Nova Bus LFS HEV. Connecticut received their first bus in late 2011.
In 2007, Nova Bus and the Association du transport urbain du Québec, which represents the major transit agencies in the province, signed a contract for the supply of articulated buses. Nova Bus built two demonstrators that toured Québec, soliciting feedback from passengers and agencies. The first production buses were delivered to the
Société de transport de Montréal (STM) in 2009.

Specifications
In 2010, Connecticut Transit placed an order for a batch of hybrid LFS Artic buses, the first of this model configuration. Currently, Nova has not designated the hybrid LFS Artic as its own model like they did with the 40 foot Nova Bus LFS HEV. Connecticut received their first bus in late 2011. The Société de transport de l'Outaouais (STO) became the first Canadian operator to purchase the LFS Artic HEV after receiving a pilot bus at the beginning of 2016. The RTC also received the same hybrid articulated model later in the year.

The Nova Bus LFS Artic is an articulated version of the Nova Bus LFS and is made for high ridership routes or Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) systems. The LFS Artic had its formal unveiling at the 2007 CUTA Trans-Expo.

In 2007, Nova Bus and the Association du transport urbain du Québec, which represents the major transit agencies in the province, signed a contract for the supply of articulated buses. Nova Bus built two demonstrators that toured Québec, soliciting feedback from passengers and agencies. The first production buses were delivered to the Société de transport de Montréal (STM) in 2009.
