gmnewlook
They look better grey/silver than the bland white we see here in Quebec. I like the new front end, the lights above the doors and the front doors! You'd never see that here... Nice pics!

I like the new front end, the lights above the doors and the front doors! You'd never see that here...Nice pics! You should see the windows they've order in order to keep the vandels down. They've ordered a double pane windows which is one glass, the other is plexiglass and maintenance can replace them very easy without the high cost of replacing the entire glass. Although the disadvantage is condensation do build up the corner side.

Although the disadvantage is condensation do build up the corner side. They've got those on the rear windows of the LFRs too. Are they going to 'fix' the black paint, to make the paint scheme the same as on new flyer busses? Jeff

canuck600
There were two or three Nova LFS parked at the Holiday Inn Salmon Arm tonight, so I expect you will see them in a day or so.

This information from the specification sheet. I have been told that the tranny is 6-speed by Ian Fisher of Translink..........so it's more likely that it would be model 6HP552C instead, which also makes sense, as that's what Novabus claims they offer on the spec sheet posted on their website: http://www.novabus.com/pages/doc/SpecSheet_EN.pdf Dave

Millennium2002
Does anybody know why the current NovaBus fleet does not have their garage identification letters beside their four-digit identification number when compared to other buses? - Allan K. MCW Metrobus
Does anybody know why the current NovaBus fleet does not have their garage identification letters beside their four-digit identification number when compared to other buses?- Allan K. No clue. Perhaps Nova forgot about it, or perhaps Translink has chosen not to bother with prefixes anymore since half the time they don't get changed when buses move around anyway. Bear in mind it's been 9 years since Novabus built a vehicle to our specs, so it may have been an oversight.

Enviro 500
Confirmed with Ian that the new Novabuses use the 6HP554 transmission, and the shifting points are: 14.8 km/h 32.3 45.2 64.1 77.3 Dave

Millennium2002
If anybody hasn't noticed, as the engine of a NovaBus shifts from first gear to second gear on the transmission, there is a noticeable break of no noise as the engine switches gears. However, this does not seem to happen when the bus switches between the other gears. - Allan K.

It's not the engine, it's the transmission that makes the shifting sound. If you go to Longueuil and ride their LFS, particularly the 1997-99 model, you can hear their program shift quite loud and gotta love musical. It's due to lower HP, which therefore lower model transmission mated for the type of engine power.

First 51 go to BTC, the rest go to VTC minus 3 which go to West Van.
Millennium2002
good thing the infamous "UBC EXP" didn't show up on the Axion displays of the NovaBuses, unlike their Luminator counterparts on the New Flyer D40LFRs! - Allan K.
