Hey....anybody know what the difference between a E40LF (2101) and a E40LFR (2102+) is anyway?

2101 is considered a 2005 E40LF model, while 2102+ are considered 2006/2007 E40LFR model. 2101 has alcao rims, while 2102+ do not (and I'm not sure what's the name / brand of the rims they have)

Please add anything that I might've missed

Seeing the Wheelchair symbol....

Does 2501 have one ramp or two or three?

One.

More detailed photos of S7340 wrapped up for Surrey Automall can be found here:

P4162 was seen on rt.152-041:

http://www.trans-vancouver.fotopic.net/p39455066.html

For those who are interested to go for a ride on older classics in Coquitlam, run-41 of rt.152 almost always get one of the older classics, according to the driver. He's a friendly guy, and even posed his bus in the middle of the road for me for a photo op!

Other sightings...........the skytrain service between New West Station and Surrey Central Station was disrupted for about an hours and half today. Shuttle buses were operated in both directions by STC and BTC.........some of the interesting ones:

S4171:

http://www.trans-vancouver.fotopic.net/p39455067.html

B7377 (Blue Cross)

http://www.trans-vancouver.fotopic.net/p39455071.html

B7464: (first D40LFR to go to Surrey in revenue service? ) The driver signed up as "99 Special", which is one of the signs that was used for the old 99 Bway non-stop service!

http://www.trans-vancouver.fotopic.net/p39455070.html

It was fun............buses kept pouring into the station non-stop!

More sightings...........S4170 on rt.640:

http://www.trans-vancouver.fotopic.net/p39455068.html

Enjoy!

22xx have arrived. So they have at least a hundred E40LFRs sitting at OTC now I guess.

Oh if the colours look funny, it's because I had some funny colour-changing setting on accidentally ...

That dose it! I coming to Vancouver to check them out!

Um...if you mean the E40LFRs, they're still off the road pending a fix for the power steering. So you'll only be able to see them sitting around at OTC (except if you find the random one out as "MAINTENANCE TESTING")

When is TransLink going to ever fix and release 2101, all the E40LFRs and 2501? Man, they really take a long time fixing and repairing buses. And their security policy against transit enthusiasts is just as outrageous. ETS is way more lenient, or as far as I can see, to visitors, so why not TransLink?

Security policy? There is not really an actual policy, that's what the problem is. Essentially the judgment call seems to be at the discretion of the individual enforcer, as far as I can tell. The transit security officers that I (and others here) have had to deal with claimed that there is a policy, but upon verification with higher authorities, no such policy exists. The guy at Translink didn't even have a definite answer when asked "is photography permitted upon transit property?" Really, when hassling transit enthusiasts, security officers make stuff up off the top of their head - at least in my experience.

Do you have any transit security horror stories to share?

Vancouver is actually much milder in terms of transit-photography..........there are bad apples in the good ones, so you cannot avoid of not having any confrontations at all..........but generally speaking, most of the transit security and police officers do not care - ironically, I'm not so worried about the actual transit police officers - they know their duties and jurisdictions, and I guess they are more busy chasing actual criminals than just a few kids taking photos of buses; however, transit security officers probably have more "leisure" time on duty, and they think filing a report would increase their reputations and bitching at little kids and innocent people make them feel proud and sense of accomplishment - again, I'm pointing my finger at certain individual, the one and only bad apple in the good apples - other transit security officers are generally nice and friendly.

Hint: If a transit security officer or supervisor trys to kick you away from Metrotown Station, simply tell them to find mall securities to kick you out, because the Metrotown bus loop is a mall property, not a transit property.........therefore, transit employees have no rights to try to chase you away.

Hint 2: If a law enforcement officer demands you to delete your picture, hand over your film or camera - don't do it by simply asking for a court warrant - if they don't have it, you're standing a strong position in terms of law. According to the Constitution Act 1982 (Charter of Rights), under "search and seizure", it clearly states out that "Everyone has the right to secure against unreasonable search or seizure" - photography is not a crime, and there's no good reason for law enforcement (leave alone the word "security") to confiscate your camera.

I'll try to come up with a list of different laws that we, as transit photographers, should know in order to defend ourselves when the situation requires us to do so..........it would be great if somebody here would give me a hand!

Does 2101 have automatic pole retrieval?

Does 2101 have automatic pole retrieval?

Pole retrieval only works to help to lower the trolley poles when the bus dewires, not to reattach the poles back onto the wires after the bus dewires, at least not at this point. Automatically re-attaching trolley pole back onto the wires would require a specifically designated area marked to let the drivers know where to stop the bus and hook up the wire...........an example would be the Seattle tunnel bus system (the dual-mode buses)

Ha ha, ya almost had me there :P , nice photoshop though ;)

That's not a photoshop, it's real. I have been aware of the existence of bus 2200 for a couple of days now, thanks to some information that was passed to me by a source.

Anyways, on to stuff from today:

Afternoon test buses I saw were 7450 on 37/160, one of the two C40LFR test buses on 01/190, and 7454 on 156. Also spotted 3302 (haven't seen it in a while) and 3307. There might have even been a third HCNG bus, unless it was just 3307 that got stuck at a light.

B7390 has some funny paintwork at the front that leads me to believe it may have been an accident victim at one point:

http://gprior.fotopic.net/p39472867.html

Note how two of the three panels on the front are painted a darker blue than the rest of the bus.

And, just for effect, with relevance to our discussion about transit security...

Yeah it's real. It just happened to be in the same place 2201 was in yesterday if you thought I photoshopped that.

Ya if you look at the photos side by side you'll notice the diffrences...

2201 has no wheelchair sign, 407 is on the little sign thing, picture is clearer

2200 has a wheelchair sign, 406 in on the little sign thing, picture is blurier

So it's real
