They covered up the Clareview West clock today! :P

ets-wclvclock.jpg

Not that it was correct all the time either, but it now has an ETS logo in the round part, and they took the "ETS" from under "CLAREVIEW WEST" off. I don't know if the same has been done to the east side.

Thanks to Blanchett Neon for that. I'll have to get a new picture one of these days. Shoot the clock towers while you can, just in case they start doing this everywhere!

Wonder if they will sell that in the city store when it opens. ;)

From inside sources, i actually told Terry this a few months ago.. But transit will be installing LED type clocks running on a GPS system to keep them synced. They are also looking at eventually being able to put PR notices on there too.

What will be interesting is if Westmount gets the old style clock put in first!

Oh, interesting! So like a digital signboard? Wonder if this new sign will display color and what not. Wonder if it is provided by Luminator. :P

I have to say the clocks at Calgary's transit terminals such as Brentwood are ugly, IMO. ;)

362 went out for 177 this morning.

126 on route 5.

Unit # 170 on Run 501 also got a C/O, although I didn't hear what it got. Driver calls in to say that his 'bells' (a.k.a. passenger chimes) weren't working. I was hoping to hear him get asked to check to see if the toggle switch to the chimes was in the 'on' position. But no one asked him to check that. The Van wasn't out yet or the Van Man (I'm sure) would have asked that.

The face of the Mill Woods Town Centre clock has been crooked for some time.:P And the time is not always correct either.. I'll be glad to see the digital clocks. Although I always have my own watch of course which is correct.

Still, a lot of people don't have timepieces. We get numerous calls just asking for the time. Although they could just be adjusting their timepieces to 'Transit Time'. Many people who don't wear watches are keeping track of the time by the display on their cell phone now.

People who ride the bus a lot, usually have a watch. People who seldom ride the bus, (and are just used to hopping in their vehicle to go somewhere) often don't have a watch, or don't find the need to wear one because it isn't necessary when driving to a destination.

I personally haven't worn a watch in about 7-8 years. i just use my cell phone for time. which if i can is set to transit time

Unit # 157 was out doing Trolley Training this EVENING ! How refreshing to see trolley training out at night. Starting off at a more relaxed pace in the evening is probably better than diving into the madness of midday traffic on your first 'trolley' day.

Actually, I saw it doing in-service training (as a 5 to Westmount) heading west from 101 St/Jasper at about 1615. So they got the madness of rush hour crowds and traffic first.

About half an hour earlier unit 163 with blank signs (looked like training, but no 'training' signs either) turned south to west at that location (split the switch, but one of the guys on the bus noticed before it dewired). It proceeded west on Jasper, turned north on 109 St, and went by my again eastbound on 102 Ave (arcing quite a bit under the pedway just west of 101 St). Not sure where it went after that.

Unit 193's heaters weren't working.

No John :P and no trolley ;) on Run 302. Glen had a refurb today, Unit # 195. There is a water main break on 101 Street and 104 Avenue. The SB contact wire is supposedly moved over a bit to accomodate the work that will be going on at that location later. I didn't see anything spectacular. A digger-mobile and an Epcor (water) trailer unit sitting on 104 Avenue west of 101 Street by the Baccarat Casino. A slow order for 101 Street (between 106 Avenue and 103 Avenue) and at 95 Street and 102 A Avenue has been issued for today.

Changeover of Clareview Clocks is Complete. The West side was finished this morning, while the east one just had a hollow round part with "CLAREVIEW EAST" still there. By this afternoon, both sides were completed.

They are orange LED boards (didn't get close enough to see the manufacturer), but the temperatue reading is independent to each sign (ie. not sent over GPS).

Once again i guess my sources were good for me! lol

I think the trains were doing the 50km/h thing again this morning, making a bunch of us late. It also didn't help that it was a crushloaded 4-car train, and some idiot brought a bike on. The motorman played the announcement twice, but I'm not sure if that person got off or not.

Which train were you on?

1018 is still HID-less, but, 1017 has the small numberes on the ends of the car like 1018 has.

I don't remember. The one that left Clareview about 0730 or later and arrived at University at 0800.
I think I was on that train... I got on at Central at 07:50, tail car I believe.
I posted a picture of what 1018 seems to look like in the LRV roster thread.

Is 1017 like that too?

I think that's what my post said.
