Stout's Transportation is based in Trenton, NJ. The company was an outgrowth of Stout's School Bus Service, founded in 1960, but did not get into the charter bus business until the 1980's. The company eventually sold its school bus operations to First Student, but eventually re-entered that market.

Stout's acquired Classic Cruisers of Lakewood (Ocean County) in late 2016 and has rebranded the Classic Cruisers fleet under their name. The company has also taken over Classic Cruisers' participation in the county-wide Ocean Ride service.
