Central Contra Costa Transit Authority or The County Connection is a public transit agency operating fixed-route bus and paratransit (County Connection LINK) service in and around central Contra Costa County in the San Francisco Bay Area. It serves the communities of Alamo, Antioch, Concord, Clayton, Clyde, Diablo, Danville, Dublin, Lafayette, Martinez, Moraga, Orinda, Pacheco, Pittsburg, Pleasanton, Pleasant Hill, Rossmoor, San Ramon & Walnut Creek.

History

Transit service in Central Contra Costa county was initially provided by Oakland-based AC Transit as it expanded into suburban Contra Costa County in the mid-1970s.

CCCTA assumed control of the public bus service in 1980 as a joint powers authority.

  • Retired circa 1996-1997.
  • 101 was bought by Oasis of Hollywood in Hollywood, CA. It was inspected as late as 2011, but was eventually scrapped.[2][3]
  • 102 & 121 were sold to StarTran and became 76 & 77 circa 1997. They were purchased by Stephen W. Dultmeier DBA Yosemite Pines RV Park in Groveland, CA (TCP 11684) and were driven back to California circa 2001. They were used as private Yosemite shuttles for a number of years and were later going to be used as shuttles from Coulterville, CA to Yosemite, CA. However, the service was never started and the buses sat starting circa 2008. They were listed on Craigslist in Coulterville, CA on 6/30/2018.[4] They were bought by A & M Auto, a scrapper based in Redwood City, CA and were spotted in Oakland, CA in September 2018. 121 was scrapped in late October 2018. 102 was scrapped in late April 2019.
  • 120 & 122 to Santa Clarita Transit 126-127 circa 1997. There may have been more units that were sold to Santa Clarita.
  • Some units were sold to Tri-Delta Transit and became their 1200 series in the late 1990's. 1260 was spotted running in 1997.[5]
  • Some units were bought by Transit Sales International.
    • 1 unit renumbered in the 3500 series (same as 3506) was spotted in the 2000's.
  • Some units were bought by Coach Crafters Inc.
    • 1 unit renumbered 3506 was spotted for sale in 2001.[6]
