Singer Melanie, who performed at Woodstock in 1969, and had a couple of major hits in the 70’s such as “Brand New Key” and “Lay Down (Candles In The Rain)” has died at the age of 76.

Today marks the 4th anniversary of the 2020 Calabasas helicopter crash (1/26/2020) wherea Sikorsky S-76B helicopter crashed in the city of Calabasas, California, around 30 mi (48 km) northwest of Downtown Los Angeles, while en route from John Wayne Airport to Camarillo Airport. All nine people on board were killed: retired professional basketball player Kobe Bryant and his 13-year-old daughter Gianna; baseball coach John Altobelli, his wife Keri and daughter Alyssa; Payton Chester and her mother Sara; basketball coach Christina Mauser; and the pilot, Ara Zobayan.

Bhavatharini, Indian actress and singer. She was the daughter of noted film composer Ilaiyaraaja and sister of Yuvan Shankar Raja and Karthik Raja. Starting her career in the 90s, she mostly sang songs under the direction of her father and brothers. She was awarded the National Film Award for Best Female Playback Singer in 2000 for her rendition of the song "Mayil Pola Ponnu Onnu" from the film Bharathi, composed by her father Ilaiyaraaja is dead yesterday at 47 years old due to cancer according to Wikipedia. She was being treated for the disease in Colombo, the capital of Sri Lanka. 

Jesse Jane, American pornographic film actress. She entered the industry in the early 2000s and quickly rose to prominence, earning numerous awards and distinctions for her performances, including numerous AVN Awards. Jane also distinguished herself as one of the few adult film stars to successfully transition into mainstream Hollywood and gained recognition beyond the adult entertainment industry is dead 2 days ago (Jan 24th) at 43 years old along her boyfriend, Brett Hasenmuller,  unknown age, due to apparent drug overdose at their home in Moore, Oklahoma according to Wikipedia.

Time flies by and this was happened in 1986 (My parents and my oldest sister time when she was a baby then).

My son was almost two at the time. We were at Kingsway Mall and soon realized why everyone in the mall was crowded around the store front TVs at Radio Shack.

Charles Osgood, American radio and television commentator, writer, and musician. Osgood was best known both for being the host of CBS News Sunday Morning, a role he held for over 22 years from April 10, 1994, until September 25, 2016, and The Osgood File, a series of daily radio commentaries he hosted from 1971 until December 29, 2017 is dead on January 23, 2024 at 91 years old due to complications of dementia at his home in Saddle River, New Jersey according to Wikipedia.

Brian McGarry, one of the financiers and key people who brought the Ottawa Senators hockey team back to Ottawa back in the 1990s has passed away. 

Brian also was a local politician in Ottawa. Being on the Ottawa School Board between 1985 and 1994 and elected to the Ottawa Carleton Regional council in 1994.

She won the Tony Award for Lifetime Achievement in 2018 is dead today at 91 years old due to brief illness according to Wikipedia.

Today marks the 21st anniversary of the Space Shuttle Columbia disaster. On February 1, 2003, during the STS-107 mission, Space Shuttle Columbia disintegrated as it reentered the atmosphere over Texas, killing all seven astronauts on board. It was the second Space Shuttle mission to end in disaster, after the Challenger disaster in 1986, which also killed all seven crew members. They were:

Back to this thread, Poonam Pandey, Indian model and an erotic actress. She debuted in Bollywood with the film Nasha in 2013 is dead yesterday at 32 years old due to cervical cancer according to Wikipedia. 

EDIT: As of  Feb 3rd, I already prayed to God last night for the big bag of salt from heaven and Poonam took the grain of salt during my prayer and she's still alive and kicking and going strong. I already ignored these false information from clueless trolls on social media platforms.

Mark Gustafson, American animator and film director, best known for co-directing Guillermo del Toro's Pinocchio (2022), which won Best Animated Feature at the 95th Academy Awards is dead yesterday at 64 years old due to heart attack according to Wikipedia. 

Lev Sarkisov, Armenian mountaineer known for being the oldest Armenian to have climbed Mount Everest is dead today at 85 years old according to Wikipedia.

Wayne Kramer, American guitarist, singer, songwriter, producer, and film and television composer is dead yesterday at 75 years old due to pancreatic cancer according to Wikipedia. 

His death was announced by the official social media accounts for the MC5, with a statement reading:

 

"Wayne S. Kramer 'PEACE BE WITH YOU' April 30, 1948 – February 2, 2024."

 

Tom Morello of Rage Against the Machine, who cited Kramer as a major influence, wrote: "His band the MC5 basically invented punk rock music... Wayne came through personal trials of fire with drugs and jail time and emerged a transformed soul who went on to save countless lives through his tireless acts of service."

 

Vernon Reid of Living Colour also paid tribute to Kramer, who he described as both a "punk rock pioneer" and "guitar badman".

Ian Lavender, English stage, film and television actor. He is best known for his role as Private Pike in Dad's Army, a BBC sitcom set during World War II, of which he was the last surviving main cast member is dead on 2 February 2024 at 77 years old according to Wikipedia. His death was announced three days later at the time of this post.

Sebastián Piñera, Chilean businessman and politician who served as president of Chile from 2010 to 2014 and again from 2018 to 2022 is dead today when the Robinson R44 helicopter (Registration CC-PHP) he was piloting crashed into Lake Ranco in southern Chile some time before 3:00 pm on 6 February 2024. He was 74 years old according to Wikipedia. According to some press reports, he survived the crash itself but the impact left him unconscious and unable to take off his safety belt; he drowned. The other three people on board survived.

 

In address to the nation later that evening, President Gabriel Boric declared three days of national mourning and announced that Piñera would be given a state funeral, to be organized by foreign minister Alberto van Klaveren.
