James
Off topic but, do trolleys have reverse, never seen one back up! Just a thought Yes they have reverse. The switch on the dash is the one used for reverse, neutral and forward. However reverse is not to be used under any normal reasons because it can easy snag and snap a wire. M. Parsons
However reverse is not to be used under any normal reasons because it can easy snag and snap a wire. "Back poleing" is a bitch to do on most veichles with trolley poles. While there's a risk of damage on stright wire, it's virtually impossible to back pole through switches!! Strathcona 913 was on driver training today. Hung out at the 95 St. crossing and shot some LRV's and ETB's for a good 30 minutes or so. Heard a training annoucing to the outside world that the next stop was Churchill Station as it entered the tunnel.
microbus
Way back in the old days, we were trained how to backup through switches... but never through a trail-in. But that was before the radio-controlled switches, back in the days when there were the 'trip' switches and the power switches.
MCW Metrobus
"Back poleing" is a bitch to do on most veichles with trolley poles. While there's a risk of damage on stright wire, it's virtually impossible to back pole through switches!! That it is. In fact, an OTC service mechanic learned that the hard way about a year and a half ago. Prior to the arrival of 2101, Translink had fitted out 2719 with the Kiepe poles and current collection system. At one point, around about the time 2101 arrived I think, a mechanic tried to back 2719 through a switch in OTC. Broke both the poles.
Board Admin A. Wong Posted January 12, 2007 Board Admin Report Share Posted January 12, 2007 I remember that fiasco. At least it got replacement poles.
captaintrolley
captain.. it's an 1½ hr trip, not 2 hrs If it were a two hour RT you wouldn't have been as late as you were

I have a picture around here somewhere of what happened when a Brill tried to back through a trail-in. It was on the fan trip marking the retirement of Brill trolleys. I also have a picture of the driver on the roof of the bus pulling the pole down by hand, after the retriever rope broke.
T6H-5307N
I always wondered what that switch on the dash was for. Now I know.
microbus
The switch on the dash lol... reminds me of what I used to tell passengers when we first got the 200 series LF's... told them the ramp was spring-loaded, and if I hit the switch, with the doors open, when they were standing on the ramp, that it would shoot them right outside of the bus heheh... they all believed me too

This makes for a quick, easy exit.
microbus
LOL... tuck and roll works unless they have a cane catapult works too, unless they have a cane, which could hurt, if they land a certain way

Maybe you can scan and post them. That'd be awesome to see. Nice Avatar. Looks like by the museum in 1999 for the 60th Anniversary. (I was there too !) They have trolleys there I think, or at least they have them very close by. Hey Microbus ! Did you sign the same thing ? Or did you sign something with 'ears' this time around ? Or did you sign something with 'ears' this time around ? I signed the same thing... which makes the day run guy happy... cuz my run is a designated 4000 series LF run No 200s for us... pos anyways. M. Parsons
cuz my run is a designated 4000 series LF run No 200s for us... pos anyways. Intersting. Are they trying to limit 200's to peak hours, or only certain runs?
T6H-5307N
I would guess because I don't see many out on mid-day runs. Drivers probably don't like the mis-aligned seat like Microbus said, plus they wouldn't be as economical as a 4000 series low floor.

Why would YOU signing the same thing make the day run guy happy? HIS run is the same as YOUR run, only the shift numbers are different. He reports at 0544 and is out at 0557. You take over the same run at 1218. OR do you have special equipment status whereby you can ONLY have a 4XXX ? I can see that making the day run guy happy. But I thought special equipment status could only be applied for two weeks at a time ? I heard one guy say he was only allowed 2XX, Jimmies and trolleys. I nearly fainted when I heard that. microbus
Special equipment status as of Jan 8th.. doctors orders I can drive GMs and BBCs too, but 12703 is a LF run, so only 4000s on it. Day run guy has an ongoing feud with a booker... after three 200s in the first week, I had had enough of that

Ode of Bund
Went for grocery shopping, 129 got stucked on insulators due to unyielding cars Upon my recommendation, driver rewired onto the divergent line in order to get some momentum .
