The Regional Transportation District is the regional transit authority in the Denver, Aurora & Boulder areas of Colorado.

History

  • The RTD began operating in late 1974, replacing Denver Metro Transit.
  • Light Rail service in Denver began on October 7, 1994.

Commuter Rail

The current and proposed commuter rail lines are:

  • University of Colorado A Line: Denver International Airport to Union Station (opened April 2016)
  • B Line: Westminster to Union Station (opened July 2016; to be extended to Longmont as funding becomes available)
  • G Line: Wheat Ridge to Union Station (opened April 26, 2019)
  • N Line: Thornton to Union Station (to open August 2020)

Light Rail

The current and proposed light rail lines are:

  • C Line: Littleton/Mineral to Union Station
  • D Line: Littleton/Mineral to 30th/Downing
  • E Line: Lincoln to Union Station (extension from Lincoln to RidgeGate Parkway to open 2019)
  • F Line: Lincoln to 18th/California & 18th/Stout (extension from Lincoln to RidgeGate Parkway to open 2019)
  • H Line: Nine Mile to 18th/California & 18th/Stout
  • R Line: Peoria to Lincoln
  • W Line: Jeffco Government Center/Golden to Union Station

    • 8059 was sold to Manhattanville College (NY) as 943.
    • 8206 & 8246 were sold to Krapf Bus as 9412-9413.
    • 8202 was sold to Bill's Bus Inc. in Santa Barbara, CA.[14][15]
    • 8220 was sold to Coralville Transit as 107.
    • 8235, 8103 & 8079 were leased to LACMTA as 9978-9980. 8079 was later leased to LADOT as 8079.
    • 8121 & 8216 were listed on Craigslist at LAX Airport in Los Angeles, CA on 8/9/2017.[16]
    • 8 units were sold to University of Minnesota as 626-633.
    • Some units were sold to the Northstar California Resort Parking Lot Shuttle System. 8330 became 116 and was spotted at Zacher's Auto Salvage in Harbor City, CA being parted out in November 2015 and was scrapped.[17]

    • The Orion V was sold to a 2nd private owner, possibly for an RV conversion project.
  • 1 unit was bought by a private owner. It was listed on Craigslist in Denver, CO in March 2017.[20]
  • 1 unit was bought by a private owner for storage in 2017. It was listed on Craigslist in Denver, CO in August 2019.[21]
