It’s for the installation of the Bridge Girders on Uplands.

At some point this summer there will be a detour for the NB 97 (for when the Girder installation on the Airport Parkway happens )

Tomorrow, there will be protest/march as a result of recent events in the US (the death of George Floyd). The way I understand it (through the media) is that the protest will begin at 3pm in front of the US Embassy followed by a march to Parliament Hill.

No notice has been posted (yet) on OC Transpo and STO's web site as of this post (9:56am). The OC Transpo routes affected are:

  • Routes 6 and 7
  • Route 9 (particularly the northbound direction to Hurdman)
  • Routes 12 and 18 (particularly the westbound direction to Parliament)

Hopefully the demonstration does not get out of hand, but if it does, I could see some impact to service for Rideau Station due to its proximity to the US Embassy.

As for STO, they'll have to use either Queen Street or Albert/Slater.

There is apparently an unplanned disruption this morning on the Confederation Line that led to fewer trains being available for service. The nature of the issue is a cracked wheel, which led to a fleet wide inspection of the trains. Apparently Route S1 were in service.

Looks like OC is back to normal. We were held up at Blair because a train "along the line was having techical issues". We're about 10 mins behind schedule and we're being held again at St. Laurent.

Edit: 1105-11XX looked like to be the culprit. Saw pulling into Belfast Yard. Service back to normal.

Based on past R1 closures on weekdays after 11 PM, it drops to every 15 minute frequency. Since demand is pretty low, I think they could get away with it noting that it isn't like the days of Route 95/96/97 via downtown being fully seated with a few standing during the late evening service. This was several years ago. At the same time, they do have flexibility to increase frequency or add additional buses if demand warrants.

Especially with the tight maintenance window of 3 to 5 hours, it is a challenge to complete what is necessary in a timely manner. I think this approach will continue pending on how this goes.

EDIT: Just saw @Oc4526 reply. Especially staggering the departure between the train and bus replacement.

Along with confirming the 15 minute frequency. Between 10:45 PM until 1 AM the next morning.
