However, no AB plates I type into the tool work at all, even plates on plates that I know are still active (such as my family's vehicles.) Strange. For me it worked for some expired plates and ones that were on a vehicle that now has different plates; it didn't work for some that are active. I think it is dependent on shops/dealerships that record both the VIN and plate number of a vehicle in order to tie them together. Update: only use it very sparingly; otherwise it will detect "commercial use" and effectively ban you from using the service unless you pay to upgrade to a commercial account. It's telling me to remove some of the buses I looked up but it won't actually let me do anything unless I upgrade because I was flagged as a commercial user. This site charges for them, but it's a flat subscription rate per month or per 3 months with unlimited reports! It's extremely affordable and fair. I tried it myself and I love it. Unfortunately you cannot get a VIN from a plate here (the only downfall). Give it a try and find more info on all of these bus VINs. With Autocheck.com's VIN reports, I was able to get the city and state, which definitely makes it easier to pinpoint certain operators, organizations and owners (especially Transit Sales International). It is not legal for NMVTIS, Autocheck, Carfax etc. to give out names of owners/companies. You can try to ask the DMV, but I'm not sure how well that will go. In my case, I had prior knowledge from past research and I combine that research with new found info. I can also pinpoint where certain things went depending on the scrap yard as well. So far the only website I've seen that actually has names is specially for Ohio registered vehicles. I think some Canadian provinces flat out don't let you find the information by entering a licence plate. I've even tried entering Alberta plates from family member's vehicles in Alberta that I know are valid and it doesn't work at all.
