  1. Here is a list of routes that had the biggest daily ridership increases (in precentage terms) from 2004-5 to 2005-6 133 Neilson and 38 Highland Creek 51.85% 122 Graydon Hall 23.33% 123 Shorncliffe 17.02% 60 Steeles West 16.53% 22 Coxwell 16.39% 190 Scarborough Centre Rocket 15.87% 124 Sunnybrook and 162 Lawrence-Donway 13.89% 105 Dufferin North 13.33% 165 Weston Rd North 12.41% 9 Bellamy 12.12% 100 Flemingdon Park 11.51% 134 Progress 10.53% 52 Lawrence West 10.45% The following list are the biggest ridership decreases in percentage terms: 127 Davenport -30.77% 103 Mt Pleasant North -26.32% 135 Gerrard -22.22% 5 Avenue Rd -18.18% 15 Evans -16.67% 59 Maple Leaf -16.67% 61 Avenue Rd North -15.79% 109 Ranee -13.64% 23 Dawes -13.56% 20 Cliffside -13.11% 132 Milner -12.50% 511 Bathurst -12.26% 31 Greenwood -11.63% 10 Van Horne -11.11% 55 Warren Park -11.11% 92 Woodbine South -10.71% 7 Bathurst -10.46% Info was taken from the Service Improvements reports.
  2. The sale to Mexico never happened and the trolleys were subsequently scrapped?
  3. Did Vancouver still have some CCF T48A rotting away in the yards in the early-mid 1990s or were they all scrapped and off-property by then? It seems that in one of the episodes of the X-Files Mulder is walking through a trolley yard in what is said to be Boston, but I suspect was Vancouver and there are some old trolleys visible with fleet numbers 2336, 2245, 2234, 2235. Could those trolleys still be on the property in the early 1990s?
  4. In that case get rid of Agincourt Station and have stations at Kennedy and Midland. It seems a bit wasteful to go southeast to Scarborough Town Centre (STC) and then to go back northeast to Sheppard/Markham. After STC I would continue going south east with stations at Centennial College, U of T Scarborough, Meadowvale/Kingston Rd, Port Union/Lawson and Rouge HIll. So the Dundas East station is at Kingston Rd/Dundas E? Instead of stations at Markham/Kingston and Eglinton/Kingston I would put the station in the middle of the Kinston/Markham/Eglinton triangle. The transfer station would be head-to-head, that is the north end of the Kingston Rd line station would connect to the east end of the Eglinton line Station that way you could have an underground connection that could have exits at Markham/Eglinton, Kingston/Eglinton and Markham/Kingston as well as directly into Markington Square. I don't think there would be enough riders there to justify a stop. Maybe instead of this stop go directly southbound and have a stop at Renforth and Eglinton. I don't think a stop is necessary at Graydon Hall. I would continue following Don Mills bus after Overlea and have a stop in the Thorncliffe Park area. Then the line could continue via Greenwood or Pape. However, Cosburn and Mortimer are too close, have a stop at Mortimer (it is roughly half way between O'Connor and Danforth) and forget about Cosburn. As far as the Queen line goes I would put in a stop in the Meadowvale/Lawrence area (or maybe at Centennial/Lawrence).
  5. I'm just going to comment on the stops on your lines. Line 1: If you are going to have a stop at Elgin Mills, you won't have one at Bernard since Bernard is only about 600 meters north of Elgin Mills. If they don't build stations that close in Toronto, they are surely not going to build them this close in York Region. I also think Weldrick is not happening for the same reason (only ~750 m north of 16th Ave). Same with Bantry/Scott. Likewise, if anything intertmediate is built between Clark and Richmond Hill Centre will have to choose one of Centre/Royal Orchard, but not both (only about 750 m between the two). On the other side, what is the point of the stop at the 407? Ther e is northing there to draw any crowds. Line 2: Are you following Burnhamthorpe from Square One to Dixie and then directly across to Cloverdale Mall? Similarly to above stations are too close for a subway. Will have to give up Tomken for sure and maybe Central Parkway as well. Line 3: Where would your stations at Martin Grove, Kipling, Islington and Albion located? No need for a Pharmacy station its only ~400 meters from Victoria Park. For these two stations you could probably put the actual platform in the middle between the two streets with exits at either end of the platform, with one exiting on Vic Park and the other on Pharmacy. Similar idea with the Kennedy and Agincourt stations. What is the routing you are following after the Kennedy/Agincourt station? Line 5: I think there is no need to have a Humber Station (which I assume would be at Humber Loop), it would be better to have the station in the South Kingsway/Windermere area. Also Parkside and Roncesvalles is only ~600 meters, so keep Roncesvalles station and get rid of Parkside. Get rid of Bellwoods Park as it is way too close to Ossington and Bathurst. Likewise for the City Hall stop, get rid of it it is way too close between Yonge and University. Make the stop for Sherbourne/Parliament into one similar to Vic Park/Pharmacy or get rid of one of them. I would keep Parliament as it is right in the middle between Yonge and Broadview. Also, one of Leslie or Greenwood would have to go (only about 400 meters between them). What is the routing followed by the line after Coxwell? Line 6: Where would the Skyway station be located? Not sure if a station at Jane should be built as it would lie right in the middle of a park at least 500 meters away from the nearest residential area. Although, I guess it would be a major connection for the Jane bus. No need for a station at York City Centre as it is only ~250 meters west of Keele. Oakwood station is a luxury and is too close to Allen/Dufferin. I don't think a station at Leslie is needed - there is nothing there. Pharmacy/Vic Park same situation as described in my comments about the Sheppard Line. Line 7: What is the routing of this line through Markham? Line 8: Could you please explain the routing of this line? I.e. give both streets of the intersections for all the stops following Square One.
  6. What exactly are Number sense and numeracy tests?
  7. As if one change for the routing wasn't enough. Earlier a previous change to the route was removed and the looping reverted to the familiar old routing. However, it looks like starting on October 16 a new routing will be tested for about 6 months. The trial routing will see buses looping in the north end of the route via Eglinton, Chaplin, Roselawn, Bathurst and Eglinton. Buses will run every 30 minutes.
  8. Of the ones you listed a few have been retired: 2248, 2257, 2334, 2733, 2765 and 2824.
  9. No need to worry about it - the route isn't accesible anymore.
  10. However, for the money that this Chrysler would cost in Russia they could probably buy a decent European or Japanese car. Honestly, typically Russian cars are only bought in Russia by the poorest of the people who are able to afford a car. If you have a little bit more money then you get something European or Japanese (imported) or perhaps something made in Russia by a foreign company (there are a number of European, Asian and American companies that have plants in Russia).
  11. So basically GO could build (if the funds were available) there own tracks on most of the rail corrirodors so that service could be run at whatever frequency and whatever time of day they wanted (i.e two way service all day on all lines)?
  12. Thanks for the info. On which GO lines is there enough room left for GO to build its own dedicated tracks so that they don't have to be dictated by CN/CP as to when they can/can't run their trains? Also, how realistic would it be to build dedicated elevated lines/platforms above the current ones so that GO could run their trains there and not care about CN/CP?
  13. 9400 was on the 7 yesterday, still with the roof tank.
  14. What is the maximum speed attained by GO trains between stations? Could the maximum be pushed higher by upgrades to tracks/signals?
  15. Should that say $16 .5 billion? I don't see how $16.5 million could be used effectively for infrastructure.
  16. Thanks, that cookie did the trick.
  17. Here's one for the mods. With the old board setup I used to log in once and then save the page in favourites. My id/password was saved and then every time I would open the page from favorites I wouldn't need to log in again. With the new board it asks me to log in every time even though I follow the same procedure as before - it is really annoying. Can I do something so that I wouldn't need to log in every time I open the page (aside from keeping CPTDB always open in my browser)? Thanks,

    Orangeville

Would there be enough passengers on the Toronto-Brampton-Orangeville route to justify through service? What about passenger flow from Brampton to Orangeville?

    Orangeville

What is the shape of the tracks that run from Orangeville to Toronto through Brampton? Could they be used for passenger service? Are there switches in place from that line to get to Union? Would passenger service from Toront to Orangeville via Brampton be financially viable?
  20. Wilson seems to use whatever they can get their hands on. There is usually a mix of Wilson's Orion V/VI/VII there at rush hours.
  21. Rode 9206 on 60 in a.m. rush on Wednesday. Also, apparently 9218 was on 6A today.

    Subway Navigator

Not only are the maps outdated, but the times given between stations are wrong as well. It says 45 minutes to get from Finch to Queen.
  23. Have you measured or polled people or are you just pulling that number out of a hat? Given that the population is aging with the baby boomers retirement starting in a few years there will be many more seniors out there. Besides accessibility isn't only for the people who have trouble walking, how about all those mothers with baby carriages or all of the people with purchases riding away from malls? They are surely thankful that they no longer need to haul everything up three steos when getting into a bus.
