  1. No, Keele will be using high floor buses.
  2. 4232 has had that wrap for awhile now. I've seen it wrapped on October 16. When did you last see it?
  3. It was most likely a 510 returning back to the yard. Where on King was it?
  4. The major changes are as follows: 61A Avenue Rd. North - accessible service (Orion VII) 60 Steeles West - should become all Orion VII all the time. 165 Weston Rd. North - accessible service (Nova RTS) 96 Wilson - accessible service (Nova RTS) 320B Yonge Night bus - branch is eliminated. In the new service summary it also says that fleet numbers for the 2007 hybrids will be 1200-1423 (note that there are now 224 of them and not 220), the 2008 hybrids will be 1500-1639. It also says that there are only 11 Orion VI buses still in service as of November 1, 2006, so quite a few have been retired that are not marked in the spottings thread. There are also only 21 D901s left, but there are 23 on our list.
  5. The Orion Vs are on the 60 all the time during rush hours.
  6. No offence intended, but this a sightings thread and not a "no sightings thread". No need to post about things you didn't see, stick to the things you actually saw.
  7. Deer or beer? Could it be that same liquor wrap that is on 4031?
  8. I do remember reading about the wipers and of course about the accident that the car was in. On the old board, I didn't read everything in the sightings thread because there were just too many useless sightings in it that made it difficult to extract anything useful out of it.
  9. Alright, buddy calm the hell down. I don't recall reading anything here about 4043, just 4041. How about you back yourself up and give me a link (or 2 since its been discussed many many times) to where 4043's new equipment was discussed?
  10. The car with the new features is 4041, not 4043.
  11. Listen, your equations are wrong! Its as simple as that. So substituting anything into them is equally wrong. The reason they are wrong is that the water isn't still it is also travelling at a speed so while the boat covers a/3 in 20 minutes the water covers b/3 so you get a/3+b/3=6 or a+b=18. Similarly with the second equation
  12. It works out perfectly. When the boat is traveling with the current the combined speed is 18 (14+4) km'h so 6 km is covered in 1/3 hour or 20 min. When the boat is travelling against the current, the combined speed is 10 (14-4) km/h so the 6 km is covered in 6/10 hours or 36 min.
  13. The subway trip will take roughly 12 minutes (if you board the train right away and there are no delays). The ride on the 196 will probably take about 15 minutes. To be certain I would budget 15 for subway and 20 for the bus and another 5 for miscellaneous expenses. So arrive at St. Clair West Station at 1:45.
  14. Here is the simple answer to this problem: 20 min for 6 km is 18 km/h 36 min for 6 km is 10 km/h let x be the speed of the boat and y be the speed of the tide so x + y = 18 and x-y = 10 this implies that x = 14 and y = 4, so the speed of the boat is 14 km/h and speed of the current is 4 km/h.
  15. A report on the TTC site says that staffers will recommend that the contract for the 360 Orion VIIs that were just ordered be amended to include bike racks on all of the buses at a cost not exceeding $700K. They will also investigate other rack designs to see if there is a better alternative to the one currently in use. The investigation is scheduled for completion in December 2006.
  16. A report on the TTC site says that the commission staffers will recommend at the next meeting that Bombardier be awarded the contract for the rebuilding of 100 CLRV cars. The total value of the contract is $41,983,432. There is also a 4 million dollar allowance for amendments in the contract. 3 other companies (Breda, Siemens and Brookville Equipment Manufacturing) were prequalified for the contract, but for various reasons did not submit a proposal to the TTC.
  17. 5291 has a new door wraps for "Holmes on Homes". 5290 is not wrapped.
  18. I think Orion has a European mother company, rather than a sister company.
  19. A report on the TTC site says that the TTC will investigate the possibility of rerouting 39 Finch East buses leaving Finch Station so that they leave via Bishop and Kenneth instead of going directly onto Finch. This will avoid the congestion they cause as they leave Finch Station and all the circling around the station that they need to do. There will be a 10 week public consultation period to discuss this proposal. The period should run until January 2007.
  20. No need to yell about it. (Capital letters are the equivalent of yelling on the internet).
  21. The detour routing was westbound via Parliament, King, Church, Richmond and Victoria and eastbound via Victoria, Adelaide, Church, King and Parliament. There were no shuttle buses at around 1:30-2:30, but there were some on hand around 6:00 p.m.
  22. According to a press release the new cars will be offically called "Toronto Rocket". This was the winning entry in the "Name the Subway Car" contest.
  23. According to a media release that wrap sticker will (or already is) be applied to 40 streetcars.
