16 Uptown / UVic wass a regional route operated by Victoria Regional Transit System in Greater Victoria, BC.
Route description
Route 16 served as a limited-stop connector between University of Victoria and Uptown Centre, where connections to regional routes could be made heading north to Saanich Peninsula and west to Westshore communities. Service operated while UVic is in session, from September to April.
It was designated as a Regional route, operating every 15-60 minutes with limited stops.
History
- Sept. 2010 Route introduced, replacing seasonal short turn trips of route 26 between UVic and Uptown.
- Late 2010s Routing at Uptown changed to take advantage of transit priority left turn signal at Carey Road and Douglas Street.
- April 2020: Service temporarily discontinued due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
- Sept 2021 As covid restrictions ease, daytime short turns of route 26 between UVic and Uptown return to replace service formerly provided by route 16.
