That arrangement would render moot however. The 16 McCOWAN is practically older than the 129. To correct you, it got replaced by the 21 BRIMLEY extension in 1976 when the 16 was cut back to operate at Town Centre before being replaced by the 129 MCCOWAN NORTH in 1985.

The 16 could get cut back to the new Lawrence East Station running north to Steeles, with the 129A taken over by YRT running from Sheppard East Station. Service on the 16 south of Lawrence is replaced by the 113 DANFORTH extension via a branch or a rerouting.

I stand corrected. I unfortunately forgot about the 21 Brimley extension. Thank you for the reminder.

The 103 MOUNT PLEASANT NORTH extension to York Mills Station (replacing service on the 97A). Route will run from Eglinton Station heading east on Eglinton, north on Mount Pleasant, west on Glen Echo, west and north on Yonge Blvd, east on Wilson and York Mills before arriving at York Mills Station. Route 103 to interline with 122 GRAYDON HALL on late evenings and all day weekends and holidays.

Glen Echo is quite narrow, Teddington Park may be better to connect to Yonge. However, neither has a light so it might be tough to make turns there to/from Yonge at rush hour.

73A Edenbridge branch

I like this idea and have thought in the past that an Edenbridge branch would be a good idea. There’s fair demand for it. The problem is that Edenbridge is a very steep and hilly road, and one side of the road has no sidewalks for a large portion of the road. Even if they installed sidewalks, Royal York is still in the middle of the two sections of Edenbridge. I could see this being a 37C, or a 79C.

Does TTC have any policies about routes along streets with no sidewalks? What is your proposed routing Edenbridge - Scarlett, - Eglinton (or perhaps ending at future Scarlett Station or station at Royal York)?

I’m not sure if they have any policies about routes with no sidewalks, but I don’t think that’s a safe idea, especially in the winter. My proposed routing for route 37C is Islington-Anglesey-Wimbledon (which later continues onto Edenbridge) past Royal York, turning left on Scarlett and possibly concluding at Scarlett Station. 79C would be the opposite of what I said above, except it would loop at Islington and Rathburn.

It's probably not preferred but it hadn't stopped them in the past.

The southern end of Shorncliffe didn't have sidewalks along the west side until a few years ago. 15 years ago there was a stop on top of some dirt before they added a concrete pad and only a few years ago did they add a sidewalk to that stretch.

The old Commissioners Street didn't have any sidewalks along north side for a long stretch but the TTC placed stops at regular intervals there.

This branch would be a good idea, as there is a lot of housing plus The Edenbridge Community Centre, where there are always events for kids and services for adults.

Any route along Edenbridge will be for domestic help, not residents. This is an area where they like their Mercedes G-Wagens and Mercedes GLSes.

The terrain and turns are challenging as well. I climb the hill westbound in second gear at 2500 RPM close to turbo boosting, and then there's a sharp turn at the top (and at the bottom, for that matter).

The fact that there is no bus route anywhere along The Kingsway, which is a much more suitable road for buses, tells me that a bus along Edenbridge is fantasy.

Considering Brimorton was a no go cause they have to build boarding pads for accessibility on a trial route, a road with no sidewalk won't get far in the proposal.

Speaking of boarding pads, I noticed there is a few on Huntingwood between Commander and McCowan, formerly used by the 139 HUNTINGWOOD abandoned since October 1993. There is still a number of pads still around that the 39 FINCH EAST formerly had such as Sandhurst Cir (39A/39C) and Bridletowne/L'Amoreaux (39B). Even Sunrise Ave still has the pads after the 70B got axed when the 70A got its late evening service restored in 2021.

The stop pads on Hawksbury and Bayview Mews, that were abandoned in 2008 after the 11A branch to Sheppard was cancelled, are going to be used again when the 78 gets extended.

-------

Anyway, there is something in mind that I have revised for the Blue Night Network services in the east end:

- 300B BLOOR-DANFORTH NIGHT: rerouted to Kennedy Road between Danforth/St. Clair and Eglinton to mirror the current 113 routing.

- 302 MARKHAM ROAD NIGHT: Although I already said this, this route will follow the daytime 102B routing.

- 308 BROADVIEW NIGHT: Follows the 8 routing.

- 311 BAYVIEW NIGHT: This route will partially follow the routings of 88, 28 and mostly 11 with buses run from St Clair Station east on St Clair, north on Welland, east on Moore, north on Bayview before looping to Sunnybrook and heading back north on Bayview before finishing north on Steeles.

- 316 McCOWAN NIGHT: This route would follow the 16 routing but will extended east on Ellesmere Road, south on Neilson Road to Centenary Hospital Loop, then continuing north on Neilson Road, west on Finch Avenue East, and north on Tapscott Road to Newgale Gate.

- 321 BRIMLEY-KINGSTON ROAD NIGHT: Replaces the 302, with buses operate from Bingham Loop heading east on Kingston, north on Brimley, east on Triton and north on McCowan to Steeles.

- 324 VICTORIA PARK NIGHT: Rerouted to Victoria Park north on Sheppard.

- 334B EGLINTON NIGHT: Route diverted north on Morningside passing Ellesmere following the 116 routing. Now proposed to be rerouted to Guildwood as part of the 2025 ASP.

- 351 LESLIE NIGHT: Though tricky, this route will follow the routings of 83, 51 and 151. Buses run via east on Commissioners, north on Leslie, west on Queen, north on Jones, east on Danforth, north and west on Donlands, north on Laird, east on Eglinton, north on Leslie, east on Steeles before looping on Townsend and Greenmeadow.

- 368 WARDEN NIGHT: Route will operate from Bingham Loop heading east on Kingston, north on Warden going to the Steeles loop.

There may be some flaws, but this would mostly complete the night grid in Scarborough.

Bonus:

- 309 HARBOURFRONT NIGHT: Follows the daytime 509 routing.

- 311 BATHURST NIGHT: Follows the 511. The 307 bus cuts back to Bathurst Station.

Why don't you just suggest a 362 LAWRENCE-DONWAY NIGHT bus? I'm sure a few ghosts from those mansion would board it.

If it connected Sunnybrook Hospital to the Lawrence East corridor it might actually garner a few late shift workers who otherwise would have to go to Yonge Street and south to Eglinton.

For route 27: Humber Blvd isn't anywhere near Old Mill Station.  What street did you mean?

For Route 168: It runs to Avon Loop now and will be extended to Mt Dennis Station when Eglinton Line finally opens and will connect to GO at that point.

For route 136:  I haven't been on Bloor in awhile, what's traffic like on that stretch during the day?  i.e. will a bus route along there be basically stuck in traffic and be perpetually late?

Old Mill Trail, it turns into Humber Blvd after Old Mill Road.

You must be looking at a different map from me. 😀
Old Mill Trail turns into Home Smith Park Road (which is one way south).

I don't think 136 Bloor will be feasible, as there is the Line 2 Subway already.

I think the only problem with the 27 is that there’s no connecting roads after Old Mill Road besides Kingsway and Dundas. If they were to extend Woodhaven Heights, Mill Cove & Goverment Road, then they could probably consider implementing the route.

Heres another:

137 SPADINA NORTH:

A New route that travels North on Spadina Road from Spadina Station and serves Dupont Station before turning left onto Davenport Road then right onto  Walmer Road then right again onto Austin Terrace before turning left back onto Spadina Road and continues until Spadina Road ends at Eglinton before turning west onto Eglinton and would serve stops until turning into Eglinton West Station where it would terminate and it would go back the same way it came when going back south to Spadina Station.
