Bombardier/Alstom Flexity Deliveries

Recommended Posts

Railcar transporter TTTX 965335, carrying TTC car 4402, was picked up by CP from Hillcrest early this morning. It is now at Lambton Yard, awaiting to be marshalled into a CP train bound for Montreal.

On the other hand, the following three railcar transporters have arrived at Lambton Yard as part of the same train this morning:

XTTX 142489 (empty)

XTTX 137329 (carrying car 4419)

JTTX 966016 (carrying car 4421)

So both 4419 and 4421 are to be delivered to Hillcrest soon.

In turn, three more cars are most likely due to be sent off to La Pocatiere.

Of note, just like all of the cars that have been sent to Quebec in the past few months, the trolley pole of car 4402 had been tied down with additional rope before leaving TTC property, likely to prevent an incident similar to the one involving car 4466 when it was originally delivered.

On the other hand, the trolley poles of cars 4419 and 4421 have not been similarly secured during transport from Quebec back to Toronto.

Car 4419 is back on property as of today (i.e. Fri, Mar 19, 2021). It was towed off railcar transporter XTTX 137329 by car 4538 at Hillcrest this morning.

To recap, car 4419 had been loaded up for transport to La Pocatiere, QC on Mon, Oct 26, 2020, for a total turnaround time of 144 days.

In turn, car 4420 is off-property as of this morning. It headed to Hillcrest under its own power earlier this morning, and after car 4419 had come off, car 4538 was used to load it onto the same transporter for the trip to La Pocatiere, QC.

The last day of service for car 4420 was Friday, February 26 on 504B King.

Car 4419 has returned to Leslie under its own power this afternoon (i.e. Sun, Mar 21), after re-delivery to Hillcrest this past Friday.

Car 4420 has been loaded onto railcar transport XTTX 137329 on Friday, but it has yet to be picked up by CP from Hillcrest.

When 4421 is off loaded Monday or Tuesday, it will see the fastest turn around to date at 118/119 days.

4427 is currently at Roncesvalles carhouse being ready to re-enter service on Monday after been here 46 days.

About mid April before 4413 and 4416 re-enter service.

4425 & 4426 could show up in May

As for 4471 it been gone since April 03/2019 at 718 days and 4478 since Jan 23/2019 at 788 days

CP is delayed, so it will take a little while longer to re-deliver 4421.

As of this evening, car 4420 has not been picked up from Hillcrest yet.

Also as of this evening, car 4402 is still at Lambton Yard. It is been sitting in the same spot since last Thursday morning, when it was picked up from Hillcrest.

Looking at the tracker, it was kind of a mess at the dock today and saw no car to take 4421 spot on the flat.

I suspect 4402 + 4420 + ? that will be place on 4421 flat will be ship all on one train to Montreal.  I know you stated there were 3 flats at Lambton and assume one is an idler. If that flat is not an idler and is to pickup another car, this will be the most TTC has shipped in one shot one way or another.

At this time, once X takes 4421 spot on the flat, TTC will have 13 cars off site for 6% of the fleet. Will have no impact on spares or need for service with 501 and 504 being cut back due to Roncesvalles intersection for the rest of the year.

Someone needs to get a shot of the 2-4 cars on the CP train to Montreal.

Are the Streetcars being delivered by Bombardier, or Alstom now?

All cars having welds fix and return to TTC are Bombardier since they built them.

As for the next 13 cars, they will be Bombardier design and still call Flexity Outlook as far as I know at this time. As for the remaining 47-87 that have no funding at this time is questionable.  It will be Alstom call how they want to brand products since the Flexity are still being built in Europe with options for more of them to various systems.

All three railcars - XTTX 137329, JTTX 966016 & XTTX 142489 - are transporters, not idlers. They were part of the same cut of cars while at Lambton last week and all three have been used to carry streetcars in the past.

Car 4420 (railcar transporter XTTX 137329) was picked up from Hillcrest by CP on Tuesday.

In turn, CP has delivered railcar transporter JTTX 966016 to Hillcrest on Wednesday morning, carrying car 4421 with it.

Car 4421 is back on property as of today (i.e. Thu, Mar 25, 2021). It was towed off railcar transporter JTTX 966016 by car 4481 at Hillcrest this morning.

To recap, car 4421 had been loaded up for transport to La Pocatiere, QC on Mon, Nov 23, 2020, for a total turnaround time of 122 days.

This is the shortest turnaround time for any of the cars that have gone through the retrofit process so far.

In turn, car 4422 is off-property as of this morning. It headed to Hillcrest under its own power earlier this morning, and after car 4421 had come off, car 4481 was used to load it onto the same transporter for the trip to La Pocatiere, QC.

The last day of service for car 4422 was Monday, March 8 on 505 Dundas.

That means XTTX 142489 is to pickup another car and most likely be 4423 or ?

4421 has the fastest turn around so far with 4420 in the norm range for returns.

Stand to be corrected, but looks like 4423 is on that extra flat like I said last night.

That 14 cars off site and just short of 7% of the fleet.

That will be some train to see with 3 or 4 cars on the Montreal train depending where 4402 is.

4421 still at Hillcrest

That is correct! CP has picked up transporter JTTX 966016 (carrying car 4422) last night and in turn, has delivered the empty XTTX 142489 to Hillcrest.

Car 4423 has headed to Hillcrest under its own power this morning, and it was loaded up using car 4416 onto XTTX 142489 for transport to La Pocatiere.

The last day of service for car 4423 was Friday, March 19 on 503 Kingston Road.

The last four TTC cars to leave for Quebec were sent off on the following transporters:

4402 - TTTX 965335

4420 - XTTX 137329

4422 -  JTTX 966016

4423  - XTTX 142489

Someone with access to the CP's railcar tracking system could figure out if all four are sent to Montreal as part of the same train.

4416 has been up at Hillcrest the last 2 days

4419 about ready to leave the yard for more testing.

Whoa..................This is the fastest turn around now at 97 day if off loaded today or 98 for Tuesday. Looks like they starting to pump them out of QC as it costing them money as it stands.

4416 still up at Hillcrest for some unknown reason

Transporter XTTX 142489, carrying car 4423 was picked up from Hillcrest by CP in the early morning hours on Tuesday, March 30.

In turn, transporter XTTX 142012, carrying car 4425 was delivered to Hillcrest yesterday.

Car 4425 is back on property as of today (i.e. Wed, Mar 31, 2021). It was towed off the railcar transporter by car 4476 at Hillcrest this morning.

To recap, car 4425 had been loaded up for transport to La Pocatiere, QC on Wed, Dec 23, 2020, for a total turnaround time of 91 98 days, which is - by a consistent margin - the shortest turnaround time for any of the cars that have gone through the retrofit process so far.

Car 4425 remains at Hillcrest for now, most likely returning to Leslie tomorrow (April 1) in the afternoon.

In turn, car 4424 is off-property as of this morning. It headed to Hillcrest under its own power earlier this morning, and after car 4425 had come off, car 4476 was used to load it onto the same transporter for the trip to La Pocatiere, QC.

The last day of service for car 4424 was Thursday, March 25 on 505 Dundas.

If car was loaded Dec 23/20 and off loaded April 1/21, I get 99 days not the 91 you have unless I missing something. Regardless, its the shortest turn around and wonder if Alstom has had a hand to reduce the turn around. The longer La Pocatiere, QC has the cars, more it costing them and the bottom line.

My bad, I have corrected my previous post - it should actually be 98 days.

Loaded up at Hillcrest Dec 23, 2020, offloaded at Hillcrest March 31, 2021 as per my original post (not April 1 - you are off by one day).

In other news, the turnaround times are getting shorter and shorter.

Car 4426 has been retrofitted as well. Railcar transporter JTTX 604594, carrying car 4426, is at Lambton Yard, awaiting delivery to Hillcrest.

Of note, the trolley pole on car 4426 has somehow broken free from its hook during transport from La Pocatiere back to Toronto (a similar situation to what occurred when car 4466 was first delivered), but luckily the trolley pole had been tied down and secured with extra rope before transport, so likely no damage has occurred.

We all make errors and move on. There is 2 ways to do number of days and only a day between them. You can include end date that adds a day  too the dates and that will add an extra day to my date.

Has 4426 been off loaded?

If these shorter dates continue, TTC will see 3 more cars this month.

Thanks

No, it sat at Lambton for quite a while and it was only yesterday (i.e. Friday, April 9) that CP has delivered it to Hillcrest.

It will likely be offloaded on Monday.

If anyone is interested, 4426 was delivered on railcar transporter JTTX 604594.

On an unrelated note - can anyone with access to the CP's tracking system tell us the whereabouts of railcar ITTX 940774?

On Thursday, car 6202 was loaded onto it at the loading dock of the Black Creek MSF. It would be interesting to know if the car is heading back to Thunder Bay or it has been re-delivered for good to the MSF.
